Cobble Co-op
Trainer battles are better with a friend.
Cobble Co-op turns Radical Cobblemon Trainers battles into a proper two-player challenge. Instead of one player starting the fight while everybody else watches, you can invite a friend, build both teams and enter the battle together.
I started this project because I wanted co-op trainer battles to feel like an actual part of the game, with their own menus and rules, not just a command that puts two players into a battle.
Co-op Battle Setup
To start into a Co-op session, Sneak and right-click a Radical Cobblemon Trainer to open the co-op menu.
Everything is prepared from the Co-op Battle Setup menu. It is divided into a few small steps so you can configure the fight without filling the screen with options.
- Mode — choose the type of co-op battle.
- Team Size — decide how many Pokémon each player can bring.
- Handicaps — add extra rules or make the trainer much harder.
- Partner — choose the nearby player you want to invite.
The handicap list includes a search bar and an Additional Information panel. Hovering a rule shows its available options or some real Pokémon examples, which is useful for the type and generation clauses.
Build the team together
After accepting the invitation, both players get their own team selection. You can choose your Pokémon, place them in battle order and see when your partner is ready.
Some rules treat both players as one complete team. For example, if a clause prevents shared types, a type selected by one player is also unavailable to the other. The server checks both selections together before allowing the battle to begin.
Make every battle different
The normal battle can be kept simple, but the setup also has many optional ways to change it:
- Pokémon, move and ability randomizers for trainers.
- Generation-only battles.
- Shared species and type clauses.
- Team, level, move, HP and PP limits.
- Modified IVs and EVs during the battle.
- Restrictions for items, status moves and special Pokémon.
- Standard, Strategic and Competitive trainer AI.
Active handicaps appear as small badges instead of covering the menus with long text. Their details are still available when you need them.
Made for two players
Both players take part in the same battle, keep their own Pokémon order and receive their own progress and rewards. A short ready screen shows the allied teams and selected handicaps before the fight starts.
The menus are translated into English, Spanish, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean and Simplified Chinese.
Cobble Co-op is an unofficial add-on and is not affiliated with Cobblemon or Radical Cobblemon Trainers.
Cobble Co-op is still a personal project and I continue changing things when I find something that does not feel right ingame. Bug reports are welcome, especially if they include the log and what both players were doing.
