[Cobblemon] Cobble Announce

A simple addon for Cobblemon that announces in chat when a shiny or legendary spawns.

Description

Ever been out grinding Cobblemon, busy fighting some random Rattata, and then realized later you probably walked right past a shiny without even noticing? Yeah, me too. That's why I made this.

Cobble Announce does basically one thing: the second a shiny or legendary Pokémon spawns, it drops a message in chat telling you which one it is. It won't catch it for you or stick a marker on your map. It just gives you the heads up so you can go track it down before it wanders off.

Default shiny odds in Cobblemon are 1 in 8192. So yeah, you kind of want to know when one shows up.

Servers and singleplayer both work

Running a server? Install it server-side and everyone online sees the announcement. Your players don't have to install anything on their end. Just playing solo? It works client-side in singleplayer too, same deal.

It's a Cobblemon addon for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. Worth mentioning: most of the other shiny and legendary spawn announcers out there are Fabric-only, so if you're running NeoForge your options are pretty thin. This is one of them.

What it actually does

  • Drops a chat alert the moment a shiny or legendary spawns, with the Pokémon's name
  • Optional sound that plays if the spawn is close enough for you to actually go get it
  • Custom messages, so you can write your own announcements instead of using my defaults
  • Tag support if you want to get fancy with how the text is formatted

It's a small mod and it won't mess with your performance. Honestly it just sits there listening for a rare spawn and prints a line of chat when one happens.

Setting it up

Takes a minute or two:

1) Grab NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1 2) Install Cobblemon (this is an addon, so it needs the base mod or it does nothing) 3) Drop the Cobble Announce jar into your mods folder 4) Launch the game. Shinies and legendaries start announcing themselves right away.

On a server the jar goes in the server's mods folder. In singleplayer it just goes in your normal mods folder like any other mod.

The custom messages, sounds and tags take a couple extra steps to set up the way you want them. I put a full walkthrough for that on the Discord (link's down below) because it's way easier to explain with actual examples sitting in front of you.

FAQ

Does this work on multiplayer servers? Yep, that's mainly what it's for. Install it server-side, everyone sees the alerts, and nobody else has to install a thing.

Do my players need the mod too? Nope. The server handles it, players just see the messages pop up in chat.

Will it lag my server? It really shouldn't. It's about as light as a mod gets. All it's doing is watching for spawns and posting a message.

What do I need to run it? Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. If you're on a different version or on Fabric, swing by the Discord and let me know. Can't promise anything but I'm always happy to hear what people want.

Does it need Cobblemon? Yes. It's a Cobblemon addon, so it won't do anything by itself.

Can I change what the messages say? Yeah, that's what the custom notifications and tags are for. There's a tutorial on the Discord that walks you through it.
