This is a mod based on Pokémon Contests. It is a Koblemon add-on that simulates holding contests in actual Pokémon games or anime as an event, allowing you to battle others or earn ribbons through a competitive format based on the original work.
Original Contest Mode
Original Contest Mode is a custom performance-based event system inspired by classic Pokémon Contest mechanics, rebuilt for Cobblemon. Instead of winning through battle, players compete by presenting one of their Pokémon in a staged contest, using moves to earn points, impress the audience, and outperform other participants across multiple rounds.
When a contest begins, each participant enters with a Pokémon chosen from their party. The selected Pokémon is then sent out onto the field, allowing the contest to feel more like a live performance rather than a menu-only system. During the contest, players take turns using one of their Pokémon’s available moves as an appeal. Each appeal is evaluated by the system and converted into contest points based on a custom scoring profile.
The mode supports multiple contest categories, such as Cool, Cute, Beauty, Smart, and Tough. These categories are used to theme the event and influence how moves are interpreted. A contest also has a rank setting — Normal, Super, Hyper, or Master — which represents the level of the competition. The number of rounds can be configured when the contest is created, allowing the event host to run shorter or longer contests depending on the situation.
A typical contest flow works like this: an operator creates the contest, players join by selecting a party slot, and once the event starts, the system determines turn order and begins the appeal phase. On each turn, the current player can view their Pokémon’s moves and choose one move to perform. When the move is used, visual effects are displayed around the summoned Pokémon to make the performance feel dramatic and show-like. This gives the event a stronger stage presentation and makes each appeal easier for spectators to follow.
The contest is not handled like a normal battle. There is no damage exchange, no knockout condition, and no battle victory state. Instead, the entire mode is driven by turn order, move selection, visual presentation, and score calculation. Each move appeal adds to the participant’s total score, and once all rounds are complete, the system compares the final totals and determines the winner.
The winner of the contest can then receive a contest ribbon or mark as a reward. These rewards are tied into Cobblemon’s mark system, so the result feels like a real achievement for the participating Pokémon rather than a temporary event score. This makes the mode well suited for roleplay servers, event-driven communities, seasonal tournaments, and showcase competitions.
In practical terms, Original Contest Mode is designed to be a non-combat alternative to standard Pokémon battles. It gives players a way to use their Pokémon for style, theme, and presentation instead of direct fighting. For servers that want more variety than simple battling, it adds a performance-focused event type that feels ceremonial, competitive, and visually engaging.
