Chunk Market
Buy the world, one chunk at a time.
An ordinary Minecraft world - except that you only see the chunk you start in. Everything beyond it is invisible, and you cannot set a foot there until you have paid for it. Every chunk you buy costs a little more than the last, so every purchase is a decision: the forest for wood, the river for water, or the hill that might have iron inside?
Land for sale
- Locked land is simply not there. An invisible wall at the edge of your land, and nothing behind it - your land floats in open sky. No blocks, no mobs, no dropped items, not even light reach you from a chunk you do not own - there is no peeking at what you have not paid for.
- Look at the wall and the action bar shows the chunk and its price. Right-click it for an
offer in chat with a [Buy] button - or use
/chunks buy. /chunks mapdraws the land around you in chat - yours, for sale, locked - and/chunkslists the next five prices.- Every chunk costs more. The first one is $100, every one after it 10 percent more: 100, 110, 121, 133.10 ... By the thirtieth chunk you are paying well over a thousand dollars.
- Grow outwards. Only chunks that touch your land can be bought.
- The first chunk is free where you spawn - and again where you step out of a nether portal. The overworld and the Nether are for sale, the End is open.
- No shortcuts. An ender pearl, a portal or a teleport into locked land takes you back to the last safe spot; a respawn there puts you on your nearest own chunk.
- The wall holds both ways. The world behind it is real - mobs live there - but nothing reaches across: no arrows from invisible skeletons, no creepers exploding through it, and your cows and villagers stay on your land instead of wandering into the void. Pistons, dispensers, buckets and explosions cannot take anything from land you have not paid for, and maps leave it blank.
Money and teams
Land is paid from your Money account. New players find $100 on it - exactly the price of the first chunk - and from there you have to earn it. Chunk Market brings no income of its own; pair it with any mod that pays in Money, such as Data Center, Street Trade or TCG Packs.
With FTB Teams installed, a party shares one account - and with it one territory and one price. Land is not exclusive: two players may buy the same chunk, and nobody can take land away from anybody. Machines from other mods (deployers, miners) work on every chunk that somebody owns - but not in land nobody has paid for.
For servers and pack makers
Everything is in the config: the price of the first chunk (basePrice), the increase per chunk
(priceIncreasePercent), whether only neighbouring chunks can be bought (adjacentOnly), the free
first chunk (freeFirstChunk), which dimensions are for sale (lockedDimensions) and whether the
wall also holds back mobs, items, pistons and machines (protectLockedLand).
Operators have /chunks admin unlock|lock <players> <x> <z>, /chunks admin radius <players> <r>
for a free start area, /chunks admin reset <players> and /chunks admin bypass to see every chunk
while building.

A note on how this was made
This mod was built with substantial help from AI. The design decisions, the playtesting and the direction are mine; a large share of the code, the textures and this text was written with an AI assistant. I would rather say that plainly than have you wonder.
