What's new

Chronocraft 1.5.0

New: Verge, and the end of the curse

  • At each turn of the story, a mysterious figure pulls you behind the world's clock into the Gearworks, a place of giant turning gears.
  • Verge, the Regulator talks to you in Undertale-style dialogue: typed letter by letter, with a voice blip per letter.
  • He guides you step by step:
    • what the curse is;
    • how to survive it;
    • who keeps its ledger;
    • and, after the Clockmaker falls, how to make the Mended Hourglass.
  • Turn it over for the Unbinding: the curse is gone for good. Your tools keep working, and they never feed it again.

Stopped time stops everything

  • Every arrow you fire into a time stop now lands when time resumes, not just the first one.
  • Inside the dome, creeper fuses, lit TNT, fireballs and falling sand all hold still, and so do particles.

Harder Shattered

  • All of them are tougher, faster and hit harder.
  • Time snare: most can stop time on you. Listen for a ticking that rises, then get out of sight or out of reach.
  • Frenzy: badly hurt, they speed up and hit harder.
  • The Paradox Twin no longer gives up on a moving target: it skips forward and strikes from behind.
  • Waves come more often and bring more of them.
  • Anchor Lanterns now guard 12 blocks (Stilled Lanterns 24).
  • The curse fills about half as fast, so it takes more uses to reach each level.

Bosses that can catch you

  • The Clockmaker has new attacks:
    • He cuts where you are about to be, not only where you were.
    • A blade of light sweeps a full circle around him: jump it.
    • His stopwatch freezes everyone near him before he strikes.
    • He throws cogs aimed ahead of you.
    • His blade ages you and slows you.
  • The Unmade Hour has new attacks:
    • Its sand lances rise ahead of you as well as under you.
    • Its shards fire glass needles.
    • A second clock hand turns the other way.
    • The sands drag you to the middle.
  • Both arenas have been rebuilt:
    • The Unmade Hour's dial floats over a cone of stone with hour obelisks and shards of clock-glass.
    • The Clockmaker's workshop has a giant gear floor, gilded pendulum gates, a colonnade and a standing clock face.

New look

  • Time Master armour is now 3D: a gear crest, dial visor, geared pauldrons, a chest clock with a glowing core, a pendulum down the back and gear spurs.
  • The Chronophage is now a 3D clockwork scepter with much more power:
    • Twice the drain rate and longer range.
    • The beam jumps to the two nearest enemies.
    • You heal by everything it takes.
    • Sneak and use it for Epoch, which ages every enemy around you at once.
  • Bending Time is now a clockmaker's journal with its own screen: leather and brass, a picture facing every tool and creature, and chapter tabs.

Chronocraft 1.4.0

New: the curse

  • Every time power you use fills a curse meter: a small hourglass beside your hotbar that cracks, darkens and finally shatters as it fills. It never touches your health.
  • The higher it gets, the more Shattered hunt you. There are eight, from a tiny clockwork beetle to a six-block giant:
    • Flickermite: a swarm of clockwork beetles that blink forward.
    • Stutterling: a child-sized figure that only moves when you look away.
    • Tickhound: a clockwork hound. It pounces, always after a loud tock.
    • Sandwraith: a flying serpent of sand that circles, then dives.
    • The Unwound: a three-block clock that freezes while watched and strikes at midnight.
    • The Rewound: a corpse that stands back up unless you kill it twice.
    • Paradox Twin: wears your skin and repeats what you did 3 seconds ago.
    • Stillborn Titan: a frozen explosion of blocks. Jump its ring of stopped time.
  • Killing them eases the curse and drops materials for new items: Anchor and Stilled Lanterns (keep them away from your base), the Mainspring Charm, Reversed Hearts and Temporal Anchors.
  • Sleep, rest, or drink an Anchor to ease the curse.

New: two bosses

  • The Unmade Hour: at full curse (or with an Unmade Hourglass) you are pulled into its own arena, a clock face floating at midnight. Break its shards, jump its sweeping clock hand, dodge its sand lances, move when stopped time resumes, and hit it while it rewinds.
  • The Clockmaker: the final boss, reached with a Stopped Clock. He cuts where you stood 3 seconds ago, splits into three (only the real one casts a shadow), and winds the whole arena back until you break his pendulums.

New gear

  • Time Master armour: stronger than Netherite. Smith it from Netherite with Chronium (from the Unmade Hour). Full set: shorter cooldowns, no slowing, and a near-fatal hit undone once every 90 seconds.
  • Hourglass Heart: halves curse gain.
  • Chronophage: the Clockmaker's wand. Drains a creature's years until weak ones crumble to dust.

New: guide and achievements

  • Every player starts with Bending Time, a short guide to every tool, the curse and the bosses.
  • A new achievement tab, Shattered, with 25 goals.

All-new sound

  • Every sound has been remade, with a build-up, a hit and a tail.
  • Time stop: a sound swells in reverse, a beat of silence, then a deep bell-and-bass hit. There are two versions, so it never repeats exactly.
  • Inside a time stop: the world's own sounds slow down and go muffled, and a frozen drone with a slow heartbeat plays. When time resumes, everything speeds back up to normal.
  • Rewind: a tape-rewind loop that lasts the whole rewind, ending on a sharp snap when you land. Other sounds around you play fast and thin while it runs.
  • Paradox Totem: a backwards heartbeat rising into a choir and a bright bell, after a moment of total silence.
  • Temporal Accelerator: clockwork ticks that speed up and rise in pitch, in three versions.

Better effects

  • Time now stops 0.4 seconds after you use the hourglass. The view closes in during that build-up, then the camera jolts when time stops.
  • Just before time resumes, the dome cracks. It then shatters into glowing glass shards that tumble outwards and fall.
  • Rewinds land with a camera jolt. The Paradox Totem freezes the moment in negative colours, then frost covers the screen and thaws into gold.
  • The Accelerator sends little spinning clock faces and speed lines up from every crop it touches.
  • Camera effects follow your FOV Effects and Screen Effects settings.

Fixes

  • The Aeon Stasis Hourglass dome is now drawn at its real size (32 blocks). It used to look 24 blocks wide, so time stayed stopped past its visible edge.
  • Players outside a rewind bubble no longer get the purple rewind filter on their screen. Only the rewinding player and anyone inside the bubble see it.

Chronocraft 1.3.1

Fixes

  • The rewind sound now moves with you as your camera glides back, instead of staying where you started the rewind.
  • Arrows frozen by a time stop keep pointing the way they were flying, instead of all turning to face the same direction.
  • Leaving a time stop dome brings the world's colours back to normal. The grey screen and tints only apply while you're inside it.

Chronocraft 1.3.0

All-new effects

  • Time bubble: using a rewind or a time stop now grows a glowing energy sphere around you. It has a bright rim and clockwork scrolling across its surface.
  • Time stop dome: the bubble becomes a shimmering clockwork dome. A light band climbs it with every tick of the clock, and when time resumes it collapses inward into a golden shockwave.
  • Clock face: a rewind paints a glowing clock face on the ground under you (Roman numerals, minute ticks, a gear ring), with light-beam hands spinning backwards.
  • Light pillars and shockwave rings mark the start and end of every rewind.
  • New particles: glowing time-motes, twinkling sparks and spinning clock runes replace the old portal particles everywhere. Rewinding mobs leave afterimages, revived mobs rise in a golden column, and restored blocks shimmer.
  • While time is stopped, the world drains to grey and only the time particles keep their colour.

Fixes

  • Holding right-click during a rewind no longer shows "Height limit for building is ...".
  • The camera now glides smoothly backwards along your path during a rewind, instead of stepping 20 times a second.

Chronocraft 1.2.1

Bug fix: rewinding could restore your inventory from much earlier than the rewind window. For example, it could take back items you'd had for minutes, or bring back blocks you'd already placed. Inventory changes are now tracked by comparing the actual contents every tick, so a rewind returns exactly the inventory you had at that moment.

Chronocraft 1.2.0

First public release.

  • Rewind Watch: rewinds the world around you, including mobs, dead mobs, arrows, dropped items, blocks, chests and your inventory.
  • Stasis Hourglass: stops time for mobs and projectiles in range, including arrows you shoot while it's active.
  • Temporal Accelerator: fast-forwards crops, saplings, copper and baby animals.
  • Paradox Totem: rewinds the world when you die. The Eternal Paradox Totem recharges instead of breaking.
  • Three tiers per tool: Chrono Shard → Temporal Crystal → Aeon Core.
  • New materials drop from Endermen and appear in Ancient City and End City loot.
  • An advancement tree that follows the progression.
  • Custom sound effects and VHS-style screen effects.
