This mod aims to bring the world of Final Fantasy, specifically chocobos, to the world of Minecraft. Tame, breed, and fight with your chocobos as you make your way through the adventures that await you and your steed.

Features

Tame, breed, and armor various Final Fantasy themed mobs including: Chocobos, Moogles, Moombas, Tonberrys, and more.
Several new crops such as Gysahl Greens, Nuts, and Peppers.
New items and ores to uncover.

A new structure: The Chocobo Theater.
A Chocobo Whistle to command your tamed creatures to Sit/Guard, Wander, Follow, Stay (Will not defend itself), and Cactuars have a turret mode.

Chocobos

There are twelve base colors of chocobos, each with their own unique ability.

Yellow – Glide / No fall damage
Cyan – Floats on water
Green – High Step (2 blocks vs 1)
Brown – Crop harvesting
Pink – Flowers and grass grows as it walks
Silver – Can chop down trees
Black – High Jump
Blue – Dive
White – Water walk / frost boots
Purple – Water Breathing
Red – Lava immunity
Gold – Flight

More colors are available through Name Tags. These are:

If you right click a mob with the Chocobo Field Guide chat will list all custom named items for this mob.

Chocobo Breeding

Chocobos can be bred and their abilities inherited by their offspring. Using a DNA tester allows you to test their gender and alleles (DNA markers that represent an ability). Alleles appear in pairs and can be either Homozygous (YY, yy) or Heterozygous (Yy). Think back to punnett squares from your Biology Class days.

Both Colors and Abilities have alleles. If an allele is YY, for example, the offspring are guaranteed to have the color or ability. Yy will still have the color or ability but may pass on yy which means the color or ability will be absent.

Alleles:

Yy – Yellow – Glide / No fall damage
Cc – Cyan – Floats on water
Gg – Green – High Step (2 blocks vs 1)
Bb – Brown – Crop harvesting
Pp – Pink – Flowers and grass grows as it walks
Ss – Silver – Can chop down trees
Oo – Black – High Jump
Kk – Blue – Dive
Ww – White – Water walk / frost boots
Ee – Purple – Water Breathing
Rr – Red – Lava immunity
Aa – Gold – Flight

It is possible to breed a chocobo with ALL special abilities. You will require a male and female chocobo which are discernible by their tail and head feather sizes, or from using the DNA tester. After breeding they will produce an egg that must be incubated in a chocobo nest which is created using bags of chocobo feathers.

Different creatures require different food to tame, breed and heal.

Moombas – Ultimate Nut Butter and Jellied Greens Sandwich
Cactuar – Dead Peppers
Tonberry – Tonberry Crown (Obtained from either the Theater or killing other Tonberrys)
Carbuncle – Huge Materia

Breeding

Chocobos – Any Nut
Moogles – Kupo Nut
Moombas – Materia
Cactuar – Flower Pot
Tonberry – Nether Wart
Carbuncle – Materia

Healing

Chocobos – Greens
Moogles – Kupo Nuts
Moombas – Meat
Cactuar – Sand
Tonberry – Chicken or Chocobo meat
Carbuncle – Materia

Gear

Create a chocobo saddle to ride your tamed steed and craft all different types of armor from Iron to Diamond and more. There are many armor types for every new mob, even Cactuar. This mod also contains many armors that use materials from MANY other mods such as Botania and Tinker’s.

Chocobo Saddle Pack:

Hold items and everything your chocobo picks up, i.e crops or wood. The level of "Efficiency" enchantment on this determines how much it can hold. Right Click while looking at a tamed chocobo to equip it.

New Villager Professions and Work Stations

Players are able to obtain various new items from these villagers. Their workstations can either be created or found inside the Chocobo Theater that spawns in the world.

“Hunter” – Crate of Yellow Materia
“Kid” – Crate of Gysahl Green

“Trader” – Tonberry Crown

Huge Materia and Devil Fruits

Using a Golden Apple, Glistening Watermelon, or Golden carrots on different Huge Materias will create different Devil Fruit that can be given to chocobos to unlock abilities they don’t have. This is useful in creative or for players who don’t want to do lots of breeding, be warned though, this takes a LOT of xp.

Can I include Chocobo Knights in my mod pack?

On Minecraft 1.16.5 the chocobo saddle slot is temporarily not shown well.
To put a saddle on a Chocobo, Sneak and Right click the chocobo, this shows the Chocobo's Inventory.

Then in the inventory, you will have to Shift and click the saddle to transfer it to the correct slot. Currently the slot is not displayed well.

The goal is to keep compatibility with upgrading servers through the versions to have no progress being lost.

This Mod started out as a Minecraft Version 1.12.2.

Mod has been ported up to Minecraft version 1.16.5.

Version 1.18 will likely be the next version. Possibly waiting for 1.19

Taming: use greens. Different Greens can cause a few different effects.

You can toggle the abilities just right click the chocobo with "Chocobo Feather", "Chocobo Talon", "Chocobo Beak".

Watch what happens when you name your Chocobo from the list below, case does not matter. The first time will take a minimal of 5 minutes to take effect. Requires Internet Access to retrieve.

Manually Chocobo Attack

will clear trees if the Chocobo has that ability

But currently will not damage any mobs.

Chocobo Whistle allows for making the chocobo sit or follow.

Breeding chocobos:

Color can be passed on

Abilities can be passed on

Stats can increase or possibly decrease for child.

Use the DNA tester on any chocobo to see its stats. Better view method to come.

Breeding is done with Nuts.

Different Nuts give different chances of the breeding results.

Warning "Kupo Nut" is not a Chocobo nut.

Chocobo Armor:

Mostly for show, no real testing done involving this yet.

Note: currently the only way to equip this is to right click a chocobo with it. If the chocobo already has a armor piece the currently equipped armor piece will be dropped by the chocobo.

Chocobo Saddle Pack:

The level of "Efficiency" enchantment on this determines how much it can hold. There is no visual difference at the moment, each level gives you another row in the inventory.

Note: currently the only way to equip this is to right click a chocobo with it. If the chocobo already has a saddle pack the currently equipped saddle pack will be dropped by the chocobo.

Chocobo Saddle:

Required to steer a tamed chocobo. Not required to ride. You can ride wild chocobos as long as you do not care where you travel to.

There are several colors, have fun.

Chocobo Eggs will only hatch when in a nest.

Easter Egg: Currently the admin spawned egg, if placed on the ground then harvested, and then placed in a nest will hatch as a Rainbow Chocobo with all Abilities. Rainbow chocobos randomly change colors.

Behavior:

Fairly basic.

Currently mainly act like a bunch of wolfs.

Might want to make larger fences to protect your sheep.

Plants:

Seeds, Nuts, Pepper:

All spawn in the wild, and all can be farmed.

All are compressible to ease in storage.

Foods:

Only a few so far, but entertaining.

Moogle:

Features:

Forgotten.

Literally, do not remember what they can do.
