Chlorine trifluoride

This mod pre-generates chunks before exploration, reducing the processing load when loading new chunks.

# Chlorine trifluoride (cif3)

**A compatibility-first performance toolkit for large Forge 1.20.1 modpacks: a load-adaptive chunk pre-generator plus built-in diagnostics that show what is actually slowing your game down.**

## How it improves performance

### 1. Move world-generation cost out of gameplay (`/cif3 pregen`)
In big modpacks, generating new terrain is often the heaviest thing the server does. When you explore fast, generation falls behind: TPS drops and chunks appear late or not at all.

cif3 generates the chunks **before** you explore them. It does not change the generation algorithm. It simply asks Minecraft to load chunks through the normal vanilla ticket system, so every mod's worldgen runs exactly as usual. The work is paid once in advance instead of during play.

- Generates in 32×32-chunk tiles, spiralling outward, so neighbouring chunks are generated together and partially generated chunks are not reloaded again and again.
- **Load-adaptive:** it watches MSPT, heap usage and GC pauses, and slows down, pauses or stops by itself so the server stays playable while it works.
- Progress is saved and can be resumed after a restart.

**Measured result** (149-mod pack, fast flight at 20 blocks/s, render distance 12):
| | Ungenerated terrain | Pre-generated with cif3 |
|---|---|---|
| Server TPS | 14–15 | **19.4–20** |
| Chunks delivered to the client | 320–396 | **~1,510 (about 4×)** |

Pre-generation speed is on par with Chunky, with smoother server ticks (p99 MSPT 14.8–16.6 ms vs 17.7–23.7 ms in our test).

> Pre-generation does not raise FPS. It keeps terrain complete and the server at 20 TPS while you move.

### 2. Find the real cause of lag (diagnostics)
Instead of guessing which mod is heavy, cif3 measures it:
- Server MSPT, client frame time (average / 1% low / p99 / max), GC pauses and stutter records
- Time spent per **namespace (≈ per mod)** in structures, features, entities and datapack functions
- `/cif3 report` saves a Markdown report you can share in bug reports

## What cif3 does NOT do
- It does **not** change world generation, structures, loot, mob AI, weather, physics or render settings.
- Its only mixins are 7 **observe-only** `@Inject`s (no cancel, no argument or return changes, no `@Overwrite`/`@Redirect`). It avoids methods that Canary, ModernFix and Structure Gel modify.
- No network channels: it can be installed on the client only, the server only, or both.
- Removing cif3 leaves your world untouched.

It is designed to sit alongside Embeddium, ModernFix, Canary, FerriteCore, ImmediatelyFast and similar mods, not to replace them.
