ChatSocket
Not a developer? Check out ChatSocket UI — a ready-to-use desktop app built on top of this mod that gives you chat overlays, text-to-speech narration, an AI auto-reply bot, and more. No coding required.
ChatSocket is a Fabric mod that runs a lightweight WebSocket server directly inside your Minecraft client. It bridges your in-game chat with any external application that can speak WebSocket — no plugins, no server-side setup required.
How it works
When you load into a world or server, ChatSocket opens a local WebSocket endpoint
(default: ws://127.0.0.1:8080/). From that point on:
- Incoming chat is captured and forwarded to all connected clients as a JSON message:
{ "type": "chat", "message": "ꜱᴄᴏᴜᴛ Br_IceyVr9 » hey everyone" }
- System messages (server announcements, join/leave notices, etc.) are forwarded
the same way with
"type": "system". - Outgoing messages sent by a connected client are injected directly into your chat, as if you typed them yourself.
Use cases
- Chat overlays — display Minecraft chat in a custom UI on a second monitor
- Bots and auto-responders — react to messages with scripted or AI-generated replies
- Text-to-speech — narrate incoming chat through a local TTS engine
- Logging and analytics — pipe chat history into any tool that can open a WebSocket
Requirements
- Minecraft with the Fabric mod loader
- Any WebSocket-capable client (browser, desktop app, script, etc.)
