Chains-Link 2.0.0 is out!
I changed the first digit in the version number, so this must be a big update (it is)!
Chains now have even more block states, with bends and intersections. If you right-click a chain with a chain, it will add a new branch to whichever side you targeted. If you right-click one of those branches with shears, it will be removed! Shears are kind of like scissors, which are kind of like... bolt cutters? I don't know, but it works.
The really interesting part is, chains still stick to adjacent blocks if they are attached, meaning you can basically make custom slime blocks by adding and removing chains on different sides. Demonstration below:
