Spelunking is the way to get ore! Ore only spawns in caves
- Encourage exploration of caves to find more ores
- Improves immersion by not having strip mining
- Improves difficulty scaling, as it is much harder to get deep ores without fighting enemies in caves
- Reduce the amount of all ore spawns by percent
- Set which blocks ore is allowed to spawn next to, default is air, liquids and other ore blocks

ye mekanism is using a fully custom ore placement, so its not possible to work with that
Is it possible to increase ore spawn rates with this mod? I kinda want to emulate the way caves were in the 1.18 snapshots, where diamonds were more common.

no but you can do it via datapack, check e.g. ore_diamond_small.json you can increase the size there which increases the chance too

Love the mod. thank you for all the hard work. quick question. is there a way to limit oregen surrounding the cave. Say if i only wanted to include 10 blocks around the cave that could spawn ore. Is this possible with your mod?

no, not really. It checks upon Oreblock spawn if its next to any air/fluid block or other ore block

Hey, I am wondering whether this mod really is compatible with 1.18.2?
You uploaded a version with the 1.18.2 Tag, but the filename still says 1.18.1 and every time I keep adding this mod to my pack it just keeps crashing. (Forge 40.0.47)

Sorry but I dont understand at all the answer. I will try to be more accurate in my question hehe. My bad.
If a chunk was going to have (non real numbers but easy to understand) 10 diamonds, 3 of those exposed and 7 hidden inside, what does "the same" means?
a) The same number of total diamonds -> 10 total -> 10 exposed ones (the 7 diamonds hidden are now pushed to the "walls", no lost, more exposed).
b) The same number of exposed ones -> 3 exposed ones -> 3 total (the 7 hidden are swapped to normal blocks and lost).

b) Those who have no surface simply do not spawn. Only exception is those which are connected to other ores which are connected to a surface
