What's new

Initial Architectury Release

CartLoadersPlus has been completely rebuilt as a multi-loader mod using Architectury, bringing support for both Forge and Fabric while maintaining a shared codebase.

Supported Versions

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge 47.4.26
  • Fabric Loader 0.16.10
  • Fabric API 0.92.12+1.20.1
  • Architectury API 9.2.14

Features

Dynamic Minecart Chunk Loading

Moving minecarts automatically load a 3×3 chunk area centered on the cart.

Supported minecart types include:

  • Minecart
  • Chest Minecart
  • Hopper Minecart
  • Furnace Minecart
  • TNT Minecart
  • Command Block Minecart
  • Spawner Minecart

Inventory Activity Detection

Chest Minecarts and Hopper Minecarts remain active while inventory contents are changing.

Supported activities include:

  • Hopper → Minecart transfers
  • Minecart → Hopper transfers
  • Hopper Minecart item collection
  • Automated logistics systems

Activity Timeout System

Chunk loading remains active for 30 seconds after the last detected movement or inventory activity.

This prevents carts from unloading during active logistics operations while avoiding permanent chunk loading.

Automatic Ticket Cleanup

Chunk loading tickets are automatically released when carts become inactive.

No manual intervention is required.

Optimized Chunk Tracking

CartLoadersPlus includes several performance optimizations:

  • Updates performed every 10 ticks
  • Chunk-change detection
  • Reduced ticket operations
  • Low-overhead cart scanning
  • Efficient cleanup handling

Forge Implementation

Uses Forge's native chunk loading system:

  • ForgeChunkManager.forceChunk()

Supports:

  • Long-distance rail networks
  • Automated item transport
  • Logistics routes spanning hundreds of blocks

Fabric Implementation

Uses Minecraft's native forced-chunk system through Fabric.

Features:

  • Dynamic chunk loading
  • Automatic cleanup
  • Multi-cart safe reference counting

Multi-Cart Safe Loading

CartLoadersPlus tracks chunk ownership using reference counting.

Benefits include:

  • Multiple carts can load the same chunk safely.
  • Shared routes remain stable.
  • Logistics hubs work correctly.
  • Chunks are not unloaded until the final cart releases them.

Testing Results

Successfully tested:

  • Long-distance minecart transport
  • 550+ block automated logistics routes
  • Hopper unloading stations
  • Return-path loading
  • Forge compatibility
  • Fabric compatibility
  • Architectury shared-code implementation

Technical Changes

Rewritten Architecture

Migrated from:

  • Forge-only implementation

To:

  • Architectury multi-loader architecture

Shared code now resides in the Common module while loader-specific functionality is isolated to platform implementations.

New Platform Abstraction Layer

Added:

  • ChunkLoadingPlatform interface
  • Platform-specific chunk loading services
  • Shared chunk loading logic across Forge and Fabric
