Card Jitsu

Play Card-Jitsu in Minecraft! Duel your friends or ninja penguins with elemental cards, earn your belts and become a ninja!

I´m currently working on the textures!

ALL cards will eventually have unique art (+210 cards!)

Bring the legendary card game of Club Penguin to Minecraft! Find the hidden dojo on the mountains, sit down at a Card-Jitsu Pad and challenge your friends or the ninja penguins to a duel of elements. Win matches, earn your belts and prove yourself to the Sensei to become a true ninja

How to play

  • Sit at a Card-Jitsu Pad to start a match against another player or a Ninja Penguin
  • Each round, both players pick a card. Every card has an element (Fire, Water or Snow), a color and a number
  • Fire beats Snow, Snow beats Water, Water beats Fire. Same element? The higher number wins
  • Win the match by collecting either:
    • 3 cards of the same element but different colors
    • One card of each element, but different colors
  • Super Cards (numbers 10–12) come with special effects: block an element, shorten your rival's timer, hide their hand, remove cards from their pile, and more!
  • Same element and same number? It's a tie and nobody gets the card
  • You have 30 seconds to pick a card each round. In the last 10 seconds you'll hear a tick tock so you don't forget
  • When the match ends you can choose Play again to keep playing without standing up. Press sneak twice to stand up

Super Cards

Cards with numbers 10, 11 and 12 are Super Cards. They glow, and if one wins its round its power kicks in for the next round. If it loses or ties, nothing happens

There are a bunch of different powers:

  • Remove an element: removes 1 card of an element (Fire, Water or Snow) from your rival's pile
  • Remove a color: removes ALL the cards of one color from your rival's pile
  • Block an element: your rival can't play that element next round
  • Only one element: your rival can ONLY play that element next round
  • +3 power: your next card is worth 3 more
  • Invert tiebreaker: next round, when both cards are the same element, the lower number wins
  • Element shield: next round elements don't matter, only the number
  • Return card on loss: if you lose one of the next rounds, you get your card back
  • Protect your pile: blocks the next time your rival tries to remove cards from your pile
  • Short timer: your rival only has 5 seconds to pick next round
  • Hide your hand: your rival plays blind next round
  • See the rival's hand: you get a quick look at your rival's whole hand
  • Swap weakest for strongest: your weakest card switches places with the strongest card of your rival
  • Swap hands: you and your rival swap your whole hands

Select a Super Card in your hand to see what it does, and the active effects show up as icons during the match. When your rival blocks an element or lets you play only one, the cards you can't play look smaller and faded

Your card collection

You don't start with every card! You build your own deck, just like in Club Penguin

  • The Sensei gives you a starter deck the first time you talk to him
  • You get more cards opening Card Packs. Each pack has 6 cards and never repeats a card inside the same pack. Super Cards are rare
  • To open a pack just right click it and drag the top to tear it open, then click each card to flip it. Press Esc to skip to the summary. You need to talk to the Sensei first
  • Some cards have a second alternative art (B), so there's more to collect
  • Your matches use YOUR collection, so the better your cards, the better your hands

How to get Card Packs

  • Pack points: you get 100 for winning a match and 42 for losing. Trade 1000 points with the Sensei for a pack (max 3 packs per Minecraft day). Points stack up to 999,999
  • Chests: dungeons, mineshafts, desert and jungle temples, igloos, shipwrecks, strongholds and trial chambers (chests, vaults and trial spawners) can have 1 or 2 packs

The Progress Scroll

Bind the Card-Jitsu Progress key in Controls to open your scroll. In there you can see:

  • Your belt, your points and how much you need for the next one
  • Wins, losses, win rate, your current and best win streak and your favorite element
  • Your Sensei attempts left for today
  • My Cards: your whole collection, how many different cards you have out of all of them, and your pack points. Sort them by default (the order you got them), by element or by number. Click a card to see it big and drag to turn it around. Under it you can see who made its art

Belts and the Sensei

  • Earn points for every match, no matter if you win or lose (100 for winning, 42 for losing)
  • Advance from White Belt toward the Black Belt. Your first win gives you the White Belt, then each belt costs more points (1000 for yellow up to 4850 for black)
  • Claim each new belt from the Sensei inside the dojo. You'll get a notification when it's ready
  • Once you are a Black Belt, challenge the Sensei himself. Beat him to earn the Eye Belt!
  • You have 5 attempts per Minecraft day to challenge him. If you aren't a black belt yet… let's just say he won't lose
  • Lost your belt? The Sensei can give you back any belt (or gem or amulet) you already earned

Track your progress on the progression bar, and unlock advancements along the way

What you can do with the Sensei

  • Earn Your Belts: calls a Ninja Penguin to play with you
  • How to Play: a quick tutorial
  • Challenge Sensei
  • Receive my belt / gem
  • Recover item
  • Trade for a card pack
  • Ask about this item: carrying a mod item and don't know how it works? The Sensei explains it to you (weapons, the amulet, card packs, cloths and scrolls)

Elemental Gems and the Amulet

  • The first time you meet the Sensei he gives you the Elemental Amulet (it goes in the necklace slot)
  • Once you're a ninja, every match you win with 3 cards of the same element counts toward mastering that element
  • With 75 wins of an element the Sensei gives you its Gem (Fire, Water or Snow). Put them in the amulet and it changes its look
  • Gems are needed to craft the elemental weapons. Your gem is YOURS, only you can craft with it
  • Elemental weapons without their gem only do 40% of their damage and lose their strongest attack

The Dojo

A full dojo generates on the highest snowy mountain near the center of your world (it prefers the Jagged Peaks). It comes with its own music, Card-Jitsu Pads, the Sensei and plenty of decorations. The dojo is protected in survival, meaning it can't be broken or blown up, and no hostile mobs spawn around it. You can only break blocks placed by players

  • Use /locate structure cardjitsu:dojo to find it, or get a Dojo Map:
    • Cartographers sell it at level 3
    • It can show up in igloos and snowy village houses
    • Wandering traders can have it as a rare trade

Ninja Armor

Protection and durability like the diamond armor, with a mask you can customize pixel by pixel. With the full set you also get ninja moves:

  • Light feet: fall damage starts at 1.5x the vanilla height
  • Parry: press sneak right before landing to take less fall damage
  • Dash: right after a parry, press jump to dash forward (costs hunger)
  • You don't sink in powder snow
  • Customizable mask: press N to open the mask editor and choose pixel by pixel which part of your face is covered. Click and drag to paint

How to get it

It's a smithing upgrade, like netherite: Diamond armor + Ninja Upgrade Smithing Template + Ninja Cloth

  • Ninja Upgrade Template: found in igloo basements, and Tank can drop it. Duplicate it with 7 diamonds and a Stolen Scroll
  • Black Cloth: 6 black wool, 2 phantom membranes and 1 string (gives 3)
  • Ninja Cloth: 6 Black Cloth, 2 Echo Shards and 1 Stolen Scroll
  • Stolen Scrolls: Tusk's minions stole them from the dojo! Snow minions drop them when you defeat them (Tank drops them more often)

It's expensive on purpose, you have to earn it

Shadow

Become invisible like a true ninja. Press V to turn it on and off (with a puff of smoke)

You need:

  • The full Shadow elemental armor, OR
  • Smoke Bracers + full Ninja Armor + Black Belt + Eye Belt

While in Shadow:

  • You and your armor are completely invisible
  • Mobs can't detect you
  • Your sounds are silenced
  • If you hit a creeper… that creeper WILL come for you. Other mobs keep ignoring you

The Smoke Bracers wear out while you're in Shadow (around 3 and a half minutes). Recharge them with gunpowder + a wind charge

Elemental Armor

Elemental Armor Sets (Fire, Water, Snow and Shadow). They protect like Netherite armor and have a special move holding the right click with an empty hand. There are plans to add unique movements and attacks depending on the element

  • Elemental flight: that special move! With a full set and empty hands, hold right click to fly. Move with WASD and sprint to boost. A stamina bar replaces your XP bar while flying
  • Each element has its own particles and sounds
  • Each set comes with an elemental mask you can wear in the face slot

Gear and items

  • Fire Nunchaku: combos, charged attacks and a super attack
    • Left click: 4 hit combo
    • Hold right click: charge a 7 hit combo
    • Fully charged: fire super attack
    • Sneak + right click: special attack
    • Crafted with the Fire Gem
  • Water Hammer: charge it up and slam the ground with a shockwave
    • Fully charged hits do a sweep like a sword and can crit. Hit again right after to keep a 2 hit combo going
    • Disables shields like an axe
    • Hold right click and release to smash. 2 seconds: heavy smash that stuns and knocks back. 10 seconds: hyper smash that launches enemies and traps them in water
    • Crafted with the Water Gem
  • Snow Shurikens, Smoke Bracers (turn into a shadow), a Sled, Hot Sauce and more (Several of these are currently being worked on)
    • Snow Shurikens: they come back to you if they hit the ground. Sneak + right click throws every shuriken you carry in a spiral
    • Smoke Bracers: see Shadow
    • Sled: works like a shield
    • Hot Sauce: hold right click to spray a cone of fire for up to 60 seconds. It sets mobs on fire and burns very flammable blocks like grass, leaves and wool. When it's empty you keep the bottle, recharge it with blaze powder or lava buckets
    • Big Snowball: a bigger snowball you can throw, like the ones Sly uses
    • Racket and Chigiriki: decorative for now, they will get their own moves
  • Dojo building blocks, paper lanterns, functional shoji windows and decorations
  • Music discs with original Card-Jitsu cover themes

Check JEI for every recipe and more info on each item

Mobs

  • Ninja Penguins: they challenge you in the dojo, and they get smarter as your belt rank grows (designed for a fair progression and SinglePlayer)
  • Snow Minions: they spawn in snowy biomes, mostly at night and in groups. They dodge, ask their team for help when you hit one, and back off when they're low on health
    • Sly: hurls heavy snowballs that knock you back hard
    • Scrap: throws a giant cluster snowball that splits apart on impact
    • Tank: Protects with his shield and attacks

Multiplayer

Play against your friends, Up to 3 duels per Minecraft day against the same player count toward your progression (the ninja penguin has no limit). Anyone watching a match nearby sees each player's won cards floating above their head, plus the cards played each round

  • During a match everyone sees your belt instead of your armor

Advancements

Belts, gems, becoming a ninja, winning with 3 different elements, a flawless victory, 25 wins, 5 and 20 win streaks, 8 cards in a row, opening your first pack, getting the full Ninja Armor, completing an element and the WHOLE card collection!
