This mod WASN'T made with MCreator
Netherite but before
In reply to BabanDlh:
Basically lol
I love this mod, I wish it could be updated to 1.16. This mod is really vanilla friendly and was essentially the pre-netherite. Is there any way I could motivate you to update the mod so it is like a netherite alternative? I can't code and am super lazy lol
In reply to theextremeborger:
I find it pretty useless in 1.16 since netherite exists, this would add no new content.
In reply to Insane96MCP:
noooo
Jokes aside, I think the mod's current features are pretty similar to netherite (except the glass and the way to obtain carbonado is pretty unique) but slightly different
Maybe you can tweak the mod for 1.16, so you can choose if you want to go for netherite or carbonado for a main set (or if you want to flex by having both sets)
Ideas on how Carbonado could be compared to Netherite
1. Carbonado is more durable than Netherite, but the tools are slightly slower, no knockback resistance (toughness could be slightly lower or the same as netherite, and keep 20 full armor because from what I found 24 armor + 2 toughness is stronger than netherite)
- Would be especially useful for armor, since I find that diamond and netherite armor break pretty quickly
- In case you want armor as good as netherite but without the kb resist (i find kb resist to be wonky lol)
- Carbonado Blocks would have a hardness of over 50, making a more durable but expensive building block
- Mending would not be much of a necessity
2. Carbonado is stronger than Netherite, but breaks quicker, no kb resist, and lower enchantability (idea that diamonds irl are brittle)
- Tools would be slightly more efficient
- Armor would have 4 toughness
- Lower enchantability to balance out because it is stronger and "maxing" armor would be more end game
I hope you read this and maybe even consider it :D
In reply to theextremeborger:
I find giving it more durability than Netherite stupid since Mending exists. Why should I make a Carbonado armor? Yes, they're more durable, but with Netherite + Unbreaking and Mending are just fine and also Netherite items (in the rare case you die) area not be lost in lava/fire.
The other way around is a possibility, but in that case the problem is Efficiency, that enchantment excalates so fast that a Netherite tool (which has a base efficiency of 9) wouldn't be that much worse than a Carbonado Tool with e.g. 12 efficiency when you have Efficiency IV/V, adds nothing (you can test it yourself, with an unbreakable Golden pick and the enchantements, since golden items have 12 efficiency). Even with low enchantability you still have Enchanted books or upgrading from a Diamond Pickaxe.
I mean, if some kind of cool quirk comes up for the mod I will surely update it, but as stated above right now is pointless. Loved how it turned out in 1.15 where you needed Explosions to extract it or to make shards, but other than that there's nothing new.
In reply to Insane96MCP:
Yea that makes sense, once you get into late game durability isn't much of a problem, and efficiency is really powerful.
I just got an idea for a gimmick for Carbonado: Explosion Resistance (like netherite's resistance to lava and fire)
- Carbonado items will not be destroyed by explosions, like nether stars and netherite items being resistant to fire and lava
- The armor could give extra damage resistance to explosions. Explosions do a lot of damage, even against full prot 4. Stuff like creepers and end crystals can kill you really fast. Carbonado can make the explosions less of a danger without sacrificing the protection enchant (like the issue with Blast Protection, where you sacrifice all damage protection for extra blast resistance) but not completely resisting it so it is still a danger
- Would make Carbonado useful because there isn't much of a defense against explosions. I think netherite doesn't give extra fire resistance damage because
there is the fire resistance effect that can negate all damage. There is Blast Protection, but the problem is you sacrifice Protection.
- I am not sure what the tool's gimmick would be except for the item being immune to explosions. The problem here is if you die to an explosion, the items wont be destroyed by that explosion, and would be destroyed by a second explosion
- Carbonado glass would be an explosion resistant see-through block (which we dont have in vanilla)
In reply to theextremeborger:
> There is Blast Protection, but the problem is you sacrifice Protection.
That's the point of damage specific protection: you want more protection against something specific? You must sacrifice the all-around Protection. So no, having blast protection in the armor would just make Blast P. useless. Also wouldn't make much sense since you obtain carbonado and shards with explosions.
That's the same problem I had with Vulcanite which had Fire Prot. included in the Armor: made no sense since would make the enchantement and the potion useless.
Ps Nether stars are not immune to fire and lava, they are immune to any (non-void) damage when dropped by the Wither, if you pick it up and throw it into the lava bye bye Nether Star.
In reply to Insane96MCP:
True true, I agree with the sacrificing all around protection for specific protection. I shouldve said that Carbonado should only give some extra protection against explosions, but not full on blast protection. Maybe the full set would only give you the equivalent of having full Blast Protection I on all armor pieces. It would essentially be like having a small Blast Protection while being able to combine with other protection or even to obtain extra blast protection.
Also if you obtain Carbonado from exploding an ore, maybe it's just separating the Carbonado from the Bedrock? But for the shards, we don't talk about that xd (but technically, the Carbonado isn't destroyed but just changed form into the shards)
Edit: Carbonado Shards could be obtained a different way, like dropping an anvil onto Carbonado
In reply to theextremeborger:
Edit: Carbonado Shards could be obtained a different way, like dropping an anvil onto Carbonado
That was already the case in 1.12 but it's no longer possible in 1.13+
In reply to Insane96MCP:
Oof, that sucks. I just came up with a few other ways, but the anvil makes the most sense :/
Ideas I got were:
- Throwing a trident or other "heavy" projectile could shatter Carbonado into the Carbonado Shards
- I got this idea from the new dripstone being able to be broken but not sure if it makes sense for carbonado
- Cramming Damage would cause any Carbonado to turn into the Shards
- Issue is that you would need a lot of iron to cram a bunch of minecarts together
- A stronger explosion, like a charged Creeper or End Crystal, would be powerful enough to "crush" the carbonado into shards
- IMO this is the most reasonable but it still doesn't make sense that other Carbonado wouldn't be destroyed
- A downwards piston could compress and shatter Carbonado to get the shards
- this wouldn't be as cool feeling to do IMO
are u going to port to 1.16? or waiting the 1.16.2? that's a really balanced mod and I would like something like this to complement the smithing table.
In reply to alyssaum:
not sure if I will keep updating my materials mods
could you fix a bug i found? .... when i put a diamond armor on an anvil, and next to the carbonado the diamond armor is completely repaired for no reason
In reply to aospirit:
That was fixed in 2.0.6
This mod goes really well with ores above diamonds and vulcanite for vanilla+ surivals great mod 👍
can the new ore mine bedrock
In reply to Forge_User_13231675:
no
In reply to InsaneGames_:
oh sorry i just noticed i forgot to hit the follow button and i didn't hear about that update .... i fucking love your mod thank you so much it's a great job
So basically this is netherite for older versions
