Endless Overgrowth
The world is going green, and it isn't stopping.
Grass, moss, mycelium and nylium no longer wait politely for dirt. They creep over stone, sand and gravel, crawl down cliffs, line cave walls, carpet the sea floor and eventually start swallowing your buildings. It begins as a few patches. Every block it takes over starts spreading too, so the green edge keeps getting longer and the takeover keeps getting faster.
What spreads, and what it becomes
| Spreads from | Takes over | Becomes |
|---|---|---|
| Grass block | dirt, stone, sand, gravel, clay, terracotta, end stone and more | grass where there's open sky above, moss where something is on top |
| Moss block | the same ground | moss |
| Pale moss block | the same ground | pale moss |
| Mycelium | the same ground | mycelium in the open, moss when covered |
| Crimson nylium / nether wart block | netherrack, basalt, blackstone, soul sand, soul soil | crimson nylium in the open, nether wart blocks when covered |
| Warped nylium / warped wart block | the same nether ground | warped nylium in the open, warped wart blocks when covered |
| Mossy cobblestone / mossy stone bricks | cobblestone and stone bricks (and their stairs, slabs and walls) | the mossy version, keeping its shape and direction |
Features
- It covers every surface. Growth crawls over any exposed ground it can take, anywhere it touches air or water: hills, mountains, cliff faces, cave walls and ceilings, river beds and the ocean floor.
- It speeds up as it goes. The takeover starts slowly, then accelerates as the growing edge gets longer.
- It grows plants. Freshly overgrown ground sometimes sprouts short grass, ferns, flowers, moss carpet, azaleas, mushrooms, crimson and warped roots, fungi and nether sprouts. Glow berry vines, pale hanging moss and weeping vines dangle from overgrown ceilings.
- It grows on old ruins. Cobblestone and stone-brick walls turn mossy, and the moss travels along the whole wall. When building-eating is on, the moss then swallows planks, bricks, polished stone and other building blocks.
- It reaches every dimension. Nylium spreads through the Nether, and grass or moss carried into the End starts covering end stone.
- It's gentle on performance. It never loads new chunks. It only grows where the world is already loaded around players, and a per-tick cap keeps the server running smoothly.
- It leaves some things alone. Ores, logs, leaves, farmland, crops, glass, wool, concrete and anything else outside the growth lists are never touched.
