Burning and Oxidation

Fire needs dry fuel, flames need something to burn, and metal does not stay bright. This mod makes all of it work at the pace it does in reality.

What's new

0.3.0

First public release. Everything below:

- Grinding rust off a tool sometimes gives rust flakes, as scraping a block does.
- Built with the shared core 0.5.0, the same as Rot & Mold 0.7.0.
- Iron tools, weapons and armour rust: left out in the rain, dropped in water, stored in a wet chest or barrel, or held and worn in the rain. The rust eats into the durability; a grindstone takes it off again.
- Anvils, cauldrons, hoppers and heavy weighted pressure plates rust in three stages. A rusty cauldron stays as rusty when it is filled or emptied, and a rusty anvil when it chips. A cauldron holding water rusts from inside.
- Rain running off rusty iron leaves an orange streak on the block below it.
- The copper lightning rod weathers in three stages and still draws lightning; an axe scrapes it back.
- Coal seams laid open in caves and mines can heat up over the years and, rarely, catch fire. A fire on coal ore burns on.
- Burning logs sometimes leave charcoal in the embers.
- Rain puts out torches, candles and campfires. A lantern's glass keeps its flame dry.
- Torches, candles, candle cakes, campfires and lanterns burn down their fuel. Campfires can be fed, lanterns take a new candle, and doused torches can be lit again.
- Vegetation burns as wet or dry as it is. Droughts bring wildfires, campfires throw sparks in a drought, lightning seldom lights wet ground, and burnt grass leaves burnt soil that greens again after rain.
- Wet hay, dried kelp and coal piles heat up by themselves and can catch fire.
- Copper takes on its patina at the real pace, replacing vanilla oxidation. Wax wears off in the open, and lightning no longer cleans copper.
- Eleven iron blocks rust in three stages, lose metal by the ISO 9224 law, and thin parts rot through under water. Rust can be scraped off with an axe, iron can be waxed, and copper touching wet iron causes galvanic corrosion. Heavily rusted doors stick, and rails in use stay bright.
- Rust flakes, which make red dye.
- Support for Rot & Mold (pine tar on iron and torches), Wetting & Drying (puddles), Serene Seasons, Jade and WTHIT.
