For server admins, not players
This goes on your server, not in your own mods folder. It does nothing on a client. If you want to use Buildprint yourself, get Buildprint instead.
Buildprint Policy
A server-side companion for Buildprint. It lets you choose which Buildprint features players can use on your server. Players with Buildprint are told what is off and why. Players without it aren't affected.
Available as a Fabric server mod (needs Fabric API) and a Bukkit plugin for Bukkit, Spigot, Paper and Purpur. Same Minecraft versions as Buildprint.
What you can turn off
- Easy place: right-click the ghost to place the exact schematic block
- Drag place: hold right-click and sweep to place many blocks
- Easy destroy: hold left-click to break only blocks that don't match the schematic
- Angel placement: place blocks in mid-air with nothing to build against
- Auto-rotate: briefly turn the player's view so a block lands facing the right way
- Printer: place nearby missing blocks automatically, or cap its speed and range
- Creating schematics: saving part of your world as a schematic with Buildprint's editor, so builds can't be copied off your server with Buildprint
- Paste: pasting a whole schematic into the world at once (creative mode only), or cap how many blocks one paste may change
You can also leave a short note, like "The printer is off to keep the economy fair."
Paste on the server
Players in creative mode can paste a schematic with Buildprint. With this installed, the server writes the blocks itself: a slice of each tick, without block updates, chest contents and sign text included. That's much quicker than pasting with commands, and it needs no operator status. The server checks that the player is in creative, and each player can undo their last 5 pastes.
Filling a build's containers from the schematic goes through the server the same way: the items go straight into the chests, barrels and hoppers already standing in the world, and it can be undone.
What players see
- A chat line when they join, and when you change something, with a link to the details.
- A Server rules screen in the Buildprint menu that lists what's allowed and your note.
- Settings that are off here are grayed out with the reason. Keys for them say they're off on this server instead of doing nothing.
Their own settings aren't changed. Everything works as before on other servers.
Setting it up
Everything is allowed after install. Change it with /bppolicy in-game or in the config file
(config/buildprint-policy.json on Fabric, plugins/BuildprintPolicy/config.yml on Bukkit).
/bppolicy show the current rules
/bppolicy disable printer turn a feature off
/bppolicy enable printer allow it again
/bppolicy printer-speed 2 cap printer speed (0 = no cap)
/bppolicy printer-range 3 cap printer range (0 = no cap)
/bppolicy paste-max 100000 cap blocks per paste (0 = no cap)
/bppolicy message set <text> the note players see
/bppolicy reload re-read the config file
Changes reach online players straight away. On Bukkit, give a rank
buildprintpolicy.allow.<feature> to let them keep a feature that's off for everyone else.
Be aware
This is a rule the Buildprint client follows. It is not anti-cheat: a modified client can ignore it, and it does nothing about other mods, like Litematica or world downloaders. Players need a Buildprint version that supports server rules.
Modpacks
Use Buildprint Policy in any modpack or server pack, on CurseForge, Modrinth or anywhere else. You don't need to ask. A link back to this page is welcome.
