What's new

This release contains new features that were being developed along with fixes from the previous version. A followup update will be released that finalizes these new features and adds the remaining planned ones.

  • Rebranded to "BuildCraft Redux" with new art for the first time. Worlds, machines and configs carry over. If you install mods by hand, delete the old BCunofficial jar when adding the new BuildCraftRedux jar.
  • You can now utilize heated combustible fluids in the combustion engine. These can either improve efficiency or be detrimental.
  • Searing oil now spawns in the Nether to allow for Nether starts. Existing config files still exclude the Nether: remove it from excludedDimensions to turn it on.
  • Combustible fluids can now burn again. Gaseous fuels will literally explode in the correct conditions.
  • You can now augment a Quarry or Mining Well with a Pump placed on top to drain fluids.
  • Redstone now actually pauses machines like the Mining Well, Pump, and Quarry. The Guide Book pages were literally lying before this.
  • Lasers can now fire underwater, and will emit bubbles when doing so.
  • A plethora of machines can now be waterlogged so that they don't look weird when underwater.
  • Pipe sounds have been adjusted so that they are not all the same sound.
  • The wrench is now a more conventional tool in the Minecraft sense (attack damage, damage values, enchantable). BuildCraft wrenches can mine BuildCraft machines faster.
  • Turned the Marker Connector into the Marker Wrench, giving it wrenching abilities, and added a new "Volume Wrench" item that allows editing volumes after their creation, in addition to connecting markers. In other words, there is now a 3-tier wrench system.
  • Looking at a marker laser shows its length in blocks under the crosshair, including the faint preview lines while holding a Marker Wrench.
  • Utilizing the new Volume Wrench, you can now change the size of a machine's working volume.
  • Replaced the weird "Filler Planner" volume box addon thing with a toggleable planning mode in the Filler's GUI. Filler Planners left in inventories disappear; Fillers that used one keep its box and pattern.
  • Modifying the state of a Filler with the preview/planning mode enabled now has minimal delay in multiplayer.
  • The Zone Planner now can show chunks that were previously loaded but are out of range. This was a 1.7.10 feature that was missed.
  • "Solid" facades now blend their shading together to make them look more like regular blocks when there are multiple next to each other.
  • Quarries and Mining Wells can now be enchanted at an anvil. This can be disabled/disallowed in the mod configuration.
  • Copied the Guide Book pages into a "GuideME" compatible format. AE2 players can now just have 1 guide book for both mods.
  • Fluid pipes now interact with cauldrons.
  • Item pipes now interact with composters.
  • If you leave the "to" slot in a Replacer empty, it will find and remove all matching blocks instead of replacing.
  • Re-implemented REI support for versions past 1.21.11.
  • The Flood Gate now respects land claims like other blocks do.
  • Residue fluid now behaves with the same thickness as oil in the world.
  • Fixed a Filler on "Loop" resending its full data to nearby players every tick after finishing a cycle.
  • The Builder now spawns 3D block outlines for sections where it has gotten stuck.
  • Builders and Fillers will now just skip claimed blocks with no permissions instead of getting stuck/frozen on them.
  • Fixed the Provide Items gate action missing from a Docking Station whose wooden pipe pulls from a modded inventory or a BuildCraft machine: only vanilla inventories (chests, barrels, furnaces and the like) counted, so robots that need tools or seeds (farmers, planters, lumberjacks) could not be supplied from anything else. Thank you for the report, Gitcrafter!
  • The Stripes Pipe now checks where placeable fluid is about to go before using the bucket/fluid container. This prevents bypassing claims mods.
  • A modded minecart broken by a Stripes Pipe now empties its contents instead of voiding the inventory.
  • A Stripes robot now throws a snowball, egg or ender pearl like the pipe does.
  • Fixed robots dropping leftover cargo on the ground. Robots now will wait up to 3 minutes for an available station before giving up and dropping their inventory.
  • Fixed a finished Filler not triggering again after having the state around it change (either via gates or within its filling volume).
  • Fixed Advanced Crafting Tables and Auto Workbenches crafting the old recipes after a datapack /reload until their grid was touched.
  • Fixed the Replacer's summary line just being haphazardly in the player's inventory slots.
  • Dramatically improved how alternative materials are handled in the Advanced Crafting Table, should be more representative of how an actual crafting table handles recipes.
  • "Forbid Robot" gate action now sends away a robot already docked at the station.
  • Improved JEI and REI support.
