Description

Bug Monsters

The wilderness is no longer yours alone.

Bug Monsters adds a growing collection of insect- and arachnid-inspired creatures to Minecraft, featuring unique combat behaviors, animated models, craftable equipment, and a spreading nest infestation.

Meet the Monsters

  • Jewel Beetle — An iridescent armored beetle that opens its wings, takes flight, and dives toward its prey.
  • Giant Centipede — An enormous, agile predator that circles its target three times before delivering a venomous bite.
  • Veil Moth — Beautiful and unsettling, this moth circles overhead and releases scales that inflict Darkness, Weakness, and Poison.
  • Mantis Spider — A mantis–spider hybrid that snares its victims with silk, pulls them closer, and strikes with its scythes.
  • Stag Beetle — A powerful beetle that grabs its prey, crushes it repeatedly, and throws it away.
  • Giant Scorpion — A heavily armored predator armed with crushing claws and a tail sting that inflicts Poison III.
  • Giant Pill Bug — A neutral creature that curls into an armored ball, spins up, and charges when attacked.
  • Swarm Ant — Small, neutral insects that appear in groups. Attack one, and the surrounding swarm will retaliate.

Encounter Massive Bosses

Spider Queen
A gigantic tarantula-inspired boss that summons waves of spiderlings. As her health falls, her summons become more numerous.

Colossal Pill Bug
A towering neutral boss larger than the Spider Queen. Provoke it, and it curls up before unleashing repeated rolling charges, crushing blocks in its path. Obsidian and bedrock can stop its advance.

Both bosses can appear rarely in infested areas with enough room to accommodate their enormous bodies.

Watch the Nest Spread

Nest Cores generate throughout newly created terrain, including dry surface areas and caves. Over time, they transform nearby natural materials into nest soil, silk-covered stone, and resin-coated wood.

The infestation has no fixed distance limit and continues spreading through loaded terrain. Infested ground becomes a habitat for the mod’s creatures, allowing them to spawn across biomes, day or night.

Destroy a core to stop the infestation spreading from it—but the transformed terrain remains.

Turn Their Remains into Equipment

Collect shells, scythes, fangs, scales, and other drops to craft armor, weapons, and useful supplies:

  • Shell armor sets with different protection levels and high enchantability.
  • A scythe sword stronger than iron, with gold-level enchantability.
  • Poison III arrows usable with ordinary bows and crossbows.
  • A fast venomous dagger crafted from the Spider Queen’s fang.
  • Moth scales that brew water bottles into Regeneration I potions.
  • Ant nectar that restores hunger and grants temporary regeneration.

GeckoLib brings the creatures to life with animated legs, wings, attacks, and defensive poses.

More creatures and features are planned for future updates.
