Check out the Wiki for information on the mod's features. If you'd like to support the mod, take a look at my card game, Keeps. It's just ten bucks.
The mod adds a new Brewing tab of Advancements that will help guide you through its features, so feel free to dive right in without any prior knowledge. It also adds a recipe book for brewing new (and old!) potions in case you tend to forget your brewing ingredients. This mod is designed to be a standalone, breathing some depth into vanilla Minecraft.
Potions have been in Minecraft, in their current form, since version 1.0.0. It's time they got a bit more interesting.
Buff's Potions adds a suite of 16 new items, 6 new blocks, 23 new potion effects, and much more, all of which will make you want to brew again:
- The Potion Belt holds up to nine bottles and can be equipped in the new belt slot, so you can hold and drink potions with much more convenience. It can be enchanted to make your potions better and drink them faster.
- The Flagon holds up to nine doses of any one potion effect. It can be drank from directly, or be placed in the world and drank from, just like eating a cake.
- The Brewing Still allows limited early-game brewing.
- The Brewing Stack allows more advanced late-game brewing.
- New potions include Harvesting, Reaching, Insight, Partial Visitation, Rain Calling, and many more.
- Missed the Crab in the mob vote? Do I have news for you.
- The Apothecary, Coven, and Evil Apothecary structures help teach the player the new mechanics.
- Various common-sense and QoL changes. Bottomless cauldrons!
Buff's Potions was developed with three main tenets of design philosophy:
- Preserve the vanilla "Minecraftness" of the game
- Give power to the player in the form of versatility and creative freedom rather than overpowered items and effects
- Add systems that integrate and build onto existing game mechanics rather than work around or nullify them
As promised, Buff's Potions...buffs potions.
