Realistic recipes for vanilla items
Every vanilla recipe for progression and useful items now goes through the mod's own processes. Building blocks, decoration and dyes stay vanilla.
- Tools in the crafting grid. Many recipes now need an axe, a knife, a hammer, a chisel or a needle. The tool stays in the grid and loses one point of durability instead of being used up. The bone needle now has durability (64 uses).
- Crafting table: 2 planks, 1 log and an axe. It fits in the 2×2 inventory grid.
- Furnace: 5 fired bricks and 3 stone. Blast furnace: furnace, bellows, bricks, wrought iron and smooth stone.
- Gold is now a real metal. It melts in the crucible at 1,064 °C, is cast into ingots, and is soft enough to be forged cold on the anvil. Golden tools, armor and the light pressure plate are forged.
- Diamond gear is made by setting diamonds into an iron piece with glue and a hammer.
- Forged on the anvil: anvil, cauldron, minecart, rails, iron doors and trapdoors, heavy pressure plate, and copper doors, trapdoors, bars, chains and lightning rods.
- Glass needs a flux. 4 sand and 1 ash pile make 4 Glass Batch (a new item), which melts into glass in the furnace. Sand alone no longer melts.
- Food:
- bread is baked from flour in the furnace or smoker;
- rabbit stew and beetroot soup simmer in the cooking pot;
- cakes, cookies and pumpkin pie use flour.
- Crafted with tools:
- beds use a straw mattress and an axe;
- chests, barrels, boats and tables are worked with an axe;
- books, saddles, bundles and leather armor are sewn with a needle;
- lanterns are hammered from 7 nuggets;
- the bow is a crude bow reinforced with sinew and glue.
- Other recipes:
- leads are made from fiber twine and a leather strap;
- ladders are lashed with cord;
- rabbit hides are sewn into rawhide, which you then tan.
- No more shortcuts:
- ores no longer smelt in the furnace;
- charcoal comes from the charcoal pile;
- sugar and bone meal come from the mortar;
- nuggets are remelted or welded instead of crafted back into ingots.
Clothing slots in the inventory
Your four clothing slots (head, torso, legs, feet) now sit in the normal inventory (E), in a second column right next to the armor slots. Shift-click a piece of clothing to put it on. The Body screen (B) still shows the same clothes. In creative mode, clothes stay in the Body screen.
Water bar
Thirst now has its own bar: ten water drops above the food bar, one drop per 10 points. The drops shake when you are badly dehydrated. Like the food bar, it hides in creative mode and while riding. Air bubbles and the stamina bar move up to make room.

Fixed
- Removed vanilla recipes came back on NeoForge. This affected wooden, stone, copper and iron tools, armor, ore smelting and more. NeoForge's own versions of these recipes were loaded over the mod's, and removed recipes could reappear. Removed recipes are now properly removed on both NeoForge and Fabric.
- The server could freeze at dawn. Spreading manure at the start of each day could loop forever. Fixed.
- Renamed:
- the "fall to the ground without dying" advancement is now called Still Breathing;
- the torch burn-time option now uses the key
fire.limited_torch_life. If you had changed it, it goes back to its default (on).
Notes
- The recipe changes apply to existing worlds; no new world is needed.
