Infinity Tweaks

Small client-side tweaks made for the Infinity Legends modpack, all in one lightweight mod.

Infinity Tweaks replaces Better Crosshair and also adds a system that locks your modpack's resource packs so they're always on and always in the right order, even for players who are updating from an older version.

✦ Dynamic Crosshair

(formerly Better Crosshair)

  • The crosshair fades out when you're not aiming at a block or an entity.
  • It becomes fully visible again as soon as you look at something or use an item (bows, shields, food…).
  • Smooth fade in and out.
  • Fully configurable in config/infinitytweaks-client.toml:
    • enabled: turn it on or off
    • missAlpha: crosshair opacity when aiming at nothing (0 = invisible, 1 = normal)
    • fadeSpeed: transition speed (0.01 = very slow, 1 = instant)

✦ Required Resource Packs (for modpack makers)

Updating resource packs in a modpack is usually a pain: players who already played keep their old options.txt, so new packs never turn on and the load order breaks.

Infinity Tweaks fixes that:

  • It reads the list from config/defaultoptions-common.toml (defaultResourcePacks, from the DefaultOptions mod). One list controls both new and existing players.
  • Every file/... pack in that list becomes required: always enabled, and it can't be turned off.
  • The order is enforced exactly as written. First in the list = lowest priority, last = highest (same as options.txt).
  • Built-in or mod packs (vanilla, mod_resources, etc.) keep their position whenever they're enabled.
  • Packs the player adds themselves are kept and placed above the modpack's packs.
  • Want a pack the player can turn off? Add it to config/infinitytweaks-packs.txt (one per line). It still goes to the right position when enabled.
  • Missing packs are skipped safely and a warning is written to the log.

Tip: keep your resource pack file names without a version number (e.g. MyPack.zip, not MyPack_v1.2.zip). Then replacing the zip in an update is enough to update the textures for everyone.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+
  • Client-side only. It doesn't need to be on the server, but it won't cause problems if it is.
  • ⚠ Not compatible with Paxi's resource pack loading. Paxi rewrites the resource pack list and can cancel the order enforcement.
