BOT_LT5

A training dummy called BOT_LT5 counted every time you killed it. Then it stopped respawning on command. It stalks you, it hunts you, and eventually it sends you a duel invite. Win and it ends. Lose and the world is closed for good.

Description

# The Bot That Escaped

You know the dummy you spawn in to practice your combos on? This one keeps count.

Type `/duel` and BOT_LT5 shows up. Plain Steve skin,

nametag over its head, swings back a bit so it's not completely boring. Kill it as many times as you like.

After the third one it stops coming when you call it.

And then a few minutes later it turns up on its own.

## Heads up before you install this

**If you lose the duel, you get kicked out of the world and you can't get back in.** That's the mod working, not a bug. I'm putting it at the top because people skip descriptions and then leave a 1-star review.

Things that are worth knowing:

- It does **not** delete your save. Nothing outside the world's own data folder gets touched. It's a flag the mod checks when you join, same idea as a hardcore death.
- You can undo it. Set `banOnLoss = false` in the config, join, run `/botlt5 reset`, turn it back on.
- On a server it only affects whoever lost. Everyone else is fine.
- Just use a fresh world. Please don't put this on the base you've had since 2019 and then come yell at me about it.

There is one way to win and it's probably not the one you'll pick first.

## So what actually happens

I'd rather you found out in game, so this is the short version.

It starts by just watching. Shows up somewhere off in the distance, stands there, says something in chat, and it's gone by the time you get close. You don't get to walk up to it.

Then it stops keeping its distance. It'll come at you and actually hit you. It can't kill you at this stage — I capped the damage so it physically can't — it just knocks you down, says its piece, and leaves. That's on purpose.

Eventually you get this:

> **BOT_LT5 sent you a duel invite**
> 1v1 · netherite · no rematch

Yes or no. Escape doesn't close it.

Say yes and it takes your inventory, hands you both full netherite and a sword, and you fight right where you're standing. Try to run and you get pulled back. It teleports behind you, circles instead of standing there like a zombie, and heals itself once when it's nearly dead. Beat it and that's the mod over — you get your stuff back, the lights come back on, it never bothers you again.

Say no and nothing happens.

For a bit.

Phase 4 only exists for people who said no, and you can't win it. That's what phase 3 was for.
## Also, it turns the lights off

From the moment it gets out until you beat it, the world stops being conveniently lit. Torches still work, daylight still works, lava still works — what goes away is the free ambient light that keeps unlit corners readable. Caves go properly black. Nights get dark enough to matter.

It fades in rather than snapping, and it doesn't flicker when you walk past a torch. Night vision turns it off. So does `trueDarkness = false` if you hate it.
## You need

- Minecraft **1.20.1**
- **Forge 47.x**
- **GeckoLib 4.4 or newer** — required, it's not bundled

Works in singleplayer and on servers. Everyone gets their own BOT_LT5 and their own progress.
## Commands

`/duel` — spawn the dummy. Stops working once it's out.

`/botlt5 status` — where you are, how many kills, how far into the current phase.

`/botlt5 reset` — wipes progress, clears a lockout. OP only.

`/botlt5 skip <stalk|hunt|invite|final>` — jump to a phase. OP only. This is the one you want if you're testing rather than playing.
## Config

`config/botlt5-common.toml`, and basically every number in the mod is in there.

How many kills before it escapes, how long it waits, how often it shows up, how many times per phase. Its health, armour, damage and swing speed in the duel, how big the arena is, whether it gets a second wind, whether you both get golden apples. Plus `banOnLoss`, the darkness, and `screenEffects` for the glitchy bits.

If the duel is kicking you, bump `duelGoldenApples` up or raise `duelBotAttackCooldown`. If it's too easy, drop the cooldown to 8 and good luck.
## Small print

All the animation is GeckoLib — walking, attacking, the teleport-ins, the twitching, the whole phase 4 sequence.

Both versions of it use the actual vanilla Steve skin on purpose. The one that gets out just renders a second layer over the top, so you can tell it's the same guy.

If you're photosensitive: there are red flashes, screen shake and glitch bars. `screenEffects = false` kills all of it and the mod still works fine.

Phase 4 takes your camera and movement for about 17 seconds. The pause menu still opens the whole time, so you're never actually stuck.
