Bons and Furious 1.0.41
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Bons and Furious 1.0.41
307 controls for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge, up from 306 in 1.0.39. This release stops Bons and Furious from being named in crash reports it did not cause, and fixes rare crashes and kicks next to Valkyrien Skies ships. Still one JAR for client and server with nothing else required.
It includes 1.0.40, which was not published separately.
Fixed
- Bons and Furious listed as the suspected mod of menu crashes: Forge names every mod whose code is on the
stack of a crash.
frame_pacingran the FPS limiter from its own method, and the game handles clicks and key presses while the limiter waits, so a crash in almost any menu named Bons and Furious, even when a data pack or another mod caused it. The limiter now runs from Minecraft's own display update, just before the buffer swap, with the same timing, and no Bons and Furious method is on the stack while it waits. - Crashes and kicks near Valkyrien Skies ships: Valkyrien Skies 2.4.x moved a player standing on a ship from the network thread, racing the server: rare "Exception ticking world" crashes while counting mobs and "Ticking player" kicks. The new control below runs those packets on the server thread.
Thanks to the player who reported a crash on CurseForge that named Bons and Furious although it was not the cause.
One new control
- Valkyrien Skies (acts on the server):
valkyrien_packets_server_thread. The packets a player's client sends Valkyrien Skies are handled on the server thread, in order with the player's other packets, as Minecraft does with its own. Packets to clients are unchanged. A player walking on a moving deck is shown about 0.1 block further behind by others (one tick, like vanilla movement).
The new control is on by default.
Changed default
radium_experimental_tickets_spawning now ships switched off: Radium's experimental spawning walk crashed servers
when another mod moved entities off the server thread. A config file written by an older version keeps its true;
set it to false there, or delete the line and it comes back with the new default.
Tested
On the title screen of a test client (Forge with Bons and Furious and a small test mod), a key press was sent at the start of the limiter's wait, 100 times each with 1.0.40 and 1.0.41. Forge's crash analysis named Bons and Furious every time with 1.0.40 and never with 1.0.41, and a forced crash in a menu's key handler gave a crash report that named Bons and Furious with 1.0.40 but not with 1.0.41. Frame times were the same, with one limiter call per frame, on that title screen and in a world of a pack with about 500 mods at a 120 FPS cap. On a dedicated server with two players on a sailing ship, Valkyrien Skies moved players on the network thread 1,356 times with 1.0.39 and never with 1.0.40.
Install
Replace the older Bons and Furious JAR with bons_and_furious-1.0.41.jar and restart. Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge
47.3.22 or newer within 47.x; tested with 47.4.16. No required dependencies. Existing config choices are kept and
new keys are added with their defaults. Every control has its own switch in config/bons_and_furious.properties,
and a control whose target mod is missing or at another build is skipped.
The whole-pack benchmark on the project page was measured with 1.0.26 and has not been repeated for this release.
