What's new

New: the architect.

  • A villager with no job takes up the architect's trade at a drafting table (paper and blue dye over four planks).
  • He sells ready-made blueprints, more and bigger as he levels up: the houses of his own village and route profiles (a road, a bridge, a small and a big tunnel, a wooden wall in 30 pairs of log and fence).
  • A bought blueprint becomes yours once it is in your inventory: edit it in the editor or hand it to your builders.

New in the editor: "Leave as is", first in the block list, marks cells the builders neither dig out nor build in. A round tunnel keeps the rock round its ring; only the inside is dug.

New: projects, a plan of many buildings (a book, a paper and a blue dye).

  • Put buildings into it out in the world (the project in hand, a blueprint in the other, click the ground) or on a map in its screen; the same blueprint as many times as you like, and roads and walls along routes of their own, laid in the route screen with the rest of the plan drawn round them and snapped to.
  • Give it to one or several crews: each takes a building and goes straight on to the next by itself, the lower parts first, and stands idle only when nothing is left to start. The blueprints you carry when you give it are enough; the rest can wait in the project's chests.
  • The whole plan is pegged out, taken up and pegged out elsewhere as one.
  • Copy a building bigger than 48 blocks: it is cut into pieces of up to 48×48×48, one blank blueprint each, and built again piece by piece.
  • A building far from the store gets a chest set down beside it, out of other crews' way.

New in the editor: "Underground" sinks the layers under the working one into the ground when the blueprint is pegged out, for a cellar or a floor in place of the top of the ground.

A building being built can be moved: lowered or raised in a project's screen, or pegged out again a little off and handed over again. The crew carries on at the new place and takes down what it had put up at the old one.

New in the crews screen: give a crew a blueprint or a project from afar (Work), call it over to you (Call), and see the talents in each crew and how many have each.

Builders no longer leave blocks hanging in the air while a material is missing: a block goes in only against one already standing, so a roof goes up from the walls in a wave and the blocks over a missing one wait for it. If it does not come within two minutes of the crew running out of other work, they go in off scaffolding that stays up until the building is done.

Fixed: on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 every talent book looked like the Fighter's; each now shows its own cover.
