 Blood Curse

Blood Curse is a multiplayer horror mod for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1. Play it with friends.

A rare pendant offers no strength, protection, or treasure. The moment somebody equips it, a
four-day countdown begins. Escaping the curse means choosing another player and giving them your
fate before time runs out.

Trust becomes dangerous. Friends become possible victims. Every expedition can end in betrayal.

 Play With Friends

Blood Curse is built around multiplayer paranoia and is not intended as a normal single-player
accessory mod. The central mechanic requires another player: the cursed wearer must decide whether
to accept their fate or sacrifice a friend.

For the intended experience, install the mod on both the server and every player's client.

 The Blood Pendant

- Cannot be crafted.
- Has a 30% chance to appear in Desert Pyramid, Bastion, and Nether Fortress chests.
- Uses the standard Curios `necklace` slot used by accessory mods such as Artifacts and Iron's
  Spells 'n Spellbooks.
- Always carries Curse of Binding.
- Cannot be removed normally after it has been equipped.
- Starts a persistent four-Minecraft-day timer when worn.
- Keeps its curse timer through logout and server restarts.

 Passing Your Fate

While the pendant is equipped, sneak and right-click another player with an empty main hand.

The pendant shatters instead of moving to their inventory. Your curse ends, and the chosen victim
is immediately taken to Blood Hell.

If the four-day timer expires before you choose a victim, the message **THE TIME HAS COME** appears
and you are taken instead.

 Blood Hell

Blood Hell is a custom horror dimension containing:

- A giant blood-red moon.
- Low crimson ambient light with no Night Vision effect.
- A nearby scene free from colored haze, with distant visibility fading into black.
- A floor covered by real, swimmable blood fluid exactly half a block deep.
- Red-tinted vanilla water animation for the blood surface.
- Blood movement particles while walking through the liquid.
- Complete protection against placing, breaking, or destroying blocks with explosions.

 The Blood Eye

Giant two-dimensional blood eyes are hidden throughout the dimension.

- One eye is generated per 640 x 640 block region.
- Each eye floats approximately six blocks above the blood.
- The sprite always turns to face the observing player.
- A concealed ten-block-wide pit waits beneath the blood directly below it.
- Falling into the pit returns the victim to the Overworld.

The limited view distance prevents players from seeing an eye immediately after arriving. It must
be discovered while exploring the darkness.

 Controls

To give another player your fate:

1. Equip the Blood Pendant in the Curios necklace slot.
2. Hold nothing in your main hand.
3. Sneak.
4. Right-click another player.

 Requirements

- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Minecraft Forge 47.4.23 or newer in the Forge 47.x line
- Java 17
- Curios API 5.14.1 or newer — **required**

 Optional Recommendation

The **Effective** ambience mod is recommended for richer liquid splashes and ripples, but it is not
required by Blood Curse.

 Installation

1. Install Minecraft Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1.
2. Install Curios API.
3. Place Blood Curse and Curios API in the `mods` folder on the server and every client.
4. Optionally install Effective if a compatible version is available for your setup.
5. Create or join a multiplayer world and play with friends.

Do not install multiple versions of Blood Curse at the same time.
