Blood Bits: Flow 2.10.0 — Forge 1.20.1
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Blood Bits: Flow 2.10.0 (Forge 1.20.1 and NeoForge 1.21.1)
This release follows Forge 2.9.1.2 and NeoForge 2.9.1.1 and contains every change made since then.
New
- Wash yourself. Hold Sneak + Use with a water bucket or water bottle aimed into the air to pour it over your head, or with an empty hand on a water cauldron to wash your face. Held to the end, it washes blood and dirt off your body, armour, accessories and held items and leaves you wet; let go early and the water is kept. Animated on the vanilla and Epic Fight models, in first and third person.
- Splash potions (not lingering ones) wash blood and dirt off every player and mob they reach.
- Pour items screen: choose which items can be poured over yourself. By default these are the water bucket and the water bottle.
- Drops from dripstone and ceilings: water drops wet the spot they land on, lava drops leave soot there.
- Bloods of different colours mix where they meet: on the ground, on bodies, skins, armour, items and Curios accessories.
- Mob pixel editor: paint where blood and dirt may land on a mob, as you already can on items and your skin. It works with Epic Fight installed.
- New settings menu, opened from Mods → Blood Bits: Flow → Config or from the bloody gear in the pause menu. It has this computer's display options and every config option as game-style buttons and sliders with tooltips, plus Reset to Defaults on each settings page. The Clean Skin Areas editor has moved into this menu.
- Settings kept for every world: shared settings are also saved in
config/bloodbits_flow/server-settings.toml, so a new world starts with the settings you made. - New options: Spray reach and Drop size.
- Landings: drops burst into one-pixel flecks and big drops spatter. Two new sound events use the game's own sounds.
Improved
- Blood and dirt build up more slowly on bodies and on worn and held gear. Dirt from walking reaches only boots and leggings.
- Armour gets wet up to the body's waterline and dries from the top down. After a wash the body dries as it does after leaving water.
- A player's blood and dirt lie on the same skin pixels on the vanilla model, on the Epic Fight model and in first person.
- Blood and dirt on items lie on the item texture's own pixels, so they look the same on every side, in the hand, on the ground, in item frames and in the inventory.
- Blood on most blocks is drawn as part of the block's own model, so shader packs light it with the block and sway it with waving plants.
- The spray flies freely in a wider cone. The blood cloud starts at the wound, drifts toward the attacker and sinks as it fades. Flying drops use the mod's own spatter pictures, and all blood is a little less see-through.
- The mod's screens are drawn with the game's own textures and widgets, with blood splattered on buttons and sliders, so resource packs restyle them too.
- Item editor: it shows the item in the inventory, in the hand or placed in the world, one texture at a time, and it finds the inventory textures of Epic Fight weapons.
- Shader packs (Oculus on Forge, Iris on NeoForge; checked with Photon): blood on bodies keeps its texture and transparency, ground blood and flying drops are drawn, and blood on items shows in first person with the item's tint.
- Faster rendering of bloody mobs with Sodium/Embeddium.
- Less work for ground stains, bodies and Create moving parts, and no blood work in a shader pack's shadow pass. A burst of landing drops is spread over several frames, and each hit sends clients only the blood it added.
Fixed
- Blood reaching a Create water wheel for the first time no longer causes a hitch.
- No part of an editor's model hides behind the panel any more when it is turned or zoomed.
- Forge: the handles of the RGB colour sliders fit inside their track.
Compatibility
- Install 2.10.0 on the server and on every client. The network protocol has changed (Forge
forge-1.20.1-10, NeoForge12). - Worlds saved by earlier versions load. Existing wounds on players are laid out again once. Back up your worlds before updating.
- Blood type data packs: the profile keys have clearer names (
applies_to,rgb,damage_threshold,drops_per_damage,throw_strength,throw_strength_per_drop). The old names still work. - Unchanged: the mod ID
bloodbits_flow, the namespacebloodmarksand the APIdev.bloodbits.flow.api.BloodBitsApi. - Loader-specific: Forge works with Oculus and Embeddium, NeoForge with Iris and Sodium. The Forge 2.9.1.2 fix for soot from sunlight burning that another mod cancels (such as Mob Sunscreen) is still Forge-only.
- Known issue (NeoForge): without a shader pack, blood and dirt on items do not show in the hotbar.
- The drop and stain particle was written anew and the two drop textures from Iron's Simple Blood were removed. This version contains no material from Iron's Simple Blood.
