Block Effect : Naturals is an addon for Block Effect. It adds natural ground that feels different underfoot: sticky river silt, heavy swamp mud, sinkable peat, slippery wet surfaces, and connected polished stone.

Requires Block Effect core (3.0.0+).

What's included

Terrain materials

Silt — Fine sediment on shores and riverbanks. Sticky walk (~70% speed), full jump. Generates near water (denser along rivers). Mine with a shovel.

Mudflat — Dense swamp mud (~40% speed). Common in swamps and mangrove swamps.

Peat bog — Soft organic ground you fall into like powder snow. Walking across peat sinks you deeper; standing still holds your depth. The deeper you are, the slower you move and the weaker your jump. Craft: mudflat + moss block. Also generates in swamps (rare elsewhere).

Polished stone — Connected paving. Seamless when joined; open edges show a rim and become slippery. Craft: 2×2 smooth stone → 4.

Wet wood & wet rock Most woods (except mangrove) and many rock types get wet variants. Soak a dry block near water (~15 seconds) or use a water bucket. Wet surfaces are slippery. Wet blocks always drop as wet. Axes strip wet → wet stripped. Fire dries wet wood to dry first. Wet logs won't smelt into charcoal.

Adherence Naturals uses a simple grip scale from 0 to 1:

Below 0.5 — slippery (wet rock, polished edges) 0.5 — normal ground Above 0.5 — sticky / slower walk (silt, mudflat, peat) Field guide With Patchouli installed, craft Naturals Field Notes (book + silt), or take it from the Naturals creative tab. The book covers stats, tools, where blocks appear, and short material notes. It is also granted once on first join when Patchouli is present.

Note: Patchouli currently has no official 1.21.8 build — the in-game book works on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1.

Advancements A Naturals advancement tab tracks exploration: River Silt, Sunk In, Bogged Down, Slippery When Wet, Damp Rock, Polished Edges.
