What's new
BlendedCraft 1.6.0 — The "Everything Actually Works Now" Update
⚔️ Combat & Traits
- Material traits now work on every crafted item! Fiery weapons set enemies on fire, slime swords knock enemies back, cactus armor pokes attackers, quartz swords deal bonus damage — all traits were silently broken before this release.
- Traits only appear on items that make sense. No more "Auto-Smelt" on swords or "Fire Aspect" on chestplates — each trait is restricted to its proper item type (auto-smelt on mining tools, fire aspect on swords, set bonuses on armor, etc.).
- New sharpness trait: fully quartz-made swords get Sharpness V (+3 bonus damage per hit), blended quartz swords get Sharpness I. Works with every quartz block type — quartz, smooth quartz, quartz bricks, pillars, slabs, stairs, and nether quartz ore.
- Fixed bonus damage not applying — trait bonus damage is now part of the actual hit instead of a fragile second damage event that often got ignored.
- Knockback and Haste rebalanced to surviveable vanilla-max levels (Knockback II, Haste II — the old values exceeded what's obtainable in vanilla).
- Emerald armor Luck is now vanilla Luck (previously showed impossible Luck II/III).
🥾 Slime Boots
- Slime boots bounce like slime blocks — fall from 3+ blocks and boing! Hold shift to land softly.
- Small hops and normal walking are completely unaffected — no more bouncing on every step.
- Fixed being teleported to the ground when walking near edges or brushing against walls.
- Fall damage immunity while wearing them.
🔥 Auto-Smelt (Blazing Harvest)
- Auto-smelt now works — cobblestone drops stone, sand drops glass, ores drop ingots.
- Works with Fortune — they stack. Fortune multiplies the drops, auto-smelt cooks them.
🎲 Trait Levels — Full vs Blended
New rule for all multi-level traits: make the item entirely from a special material and get the maximum vanilla level; blend it with other materials and get level 1.
| Trait | Full material | Blended |
|---|---|---|
| Fortune / Looting (lapis / emerald) | III | I |
| Feather Falling (feather boots) | IV | I |
| Sharpness (quartz sword) | V | I |
| Thorns (cactus armor) | III | I |
| Knockback (slime sword) | II | I |
| Frost Walker (ice boots) | II | I |
| Soul Speed (soul sand/soil boots) | III | I |
| Fire Aspect (fiery sword) | II | I |
| Haste (redstone tools) | II | I |
| Speed (sugar items) | II | I |
💥 Nether Star = Unbreakable
Craft a tool or armor piece entirely from nether stars and it becomes unbreakable. Blended nether star items keep normal (huge) durability.
🎨 Textures
- Cactus items actually look like cactus (they were random orange before!)
- Mob heads use real mob colors — wither skeleton, skeleton, zombie, creeper, dragon, piglin, and player heads all sample their actual skin textures.
- Compasses render correctly (regular + recovery) — previously random colors.
- Better support for blocks whose textures are split into parts (grass, logs, pumpkins, and similar now resolve their
_side/_toptextures automatically).
🛠️ Backward Compatibility
- All your old items update automatically on load: wrong-level traits get re-leveled, misplaced traits get removed, old full-nether-star items become unbreakable, and old slime boots keep bouncing.
🔧 Under the Hood
- Deprecated API calls cleaned up — no more warnings.
- Fixed a bug where saving/loading could silently wipe all traits from items.
- Improved internal damage-event handling for mod compatibility.
