Blade Crossbow — Mod Introduction
**One weapon. Two ways to fight. **
OVERVIEW
Blade Crossbow adds a single hybrid weapon that fuses a crossbow with a sword. It is one item that physically transforms: press the Z key and the crossbow limbs fold inward while the string stows away for close combat, and vice versa. An animated, real-time morph built from 3D voxel geometry, not a flat texture swap. The blade is fixed at the front of the stock and stays forward in both forms.
Because of the blade on its nose the weapon is also treated as a sword: it joins the vanilla swords tag, so it swings with the sweep attack and accepts sword enchantments — while still accepting crossbow enchantments too.
TWO FORMS, ONE WEAPON
Ranged Form
- Hold right-click to charge. The weapon rises to center view, aims down the crosshair. Fires automatically when fully charged, then auto-reloads and smoothly returns to your hand.
- Left-clicking an entity does nothing in this form — it is a pure shooting weapon.

Melee Form
- The limbs fold inward and the string stows away; the blade stays forward.
- Melee damage scales with you: a base of 7, plus 0.1 × your XP level, updated live.
- Nothing happens on right-click; it behaves like an ordinary sword.
HOW TO GET IT
- Bonus Chest (world spawn reward) With the Bonus Chest option enabled, the chest contains:
- 1× Blade Crossbow
- 16× Arrow
-
Anvil Crafting At an anvil, place an Iron Sword together with a Crossbow (either slot order) to produce 1× Blade Crossbow. The operation costs 1 XP level and consumes both inputs.
Enchantments are preserved and merged: the sword's and the crossbow's enchantments all carry over onto the result; the same enchantment keeps the higher level, and different enchantments all stay. So crossbow enchantments (Quick Charge, Multishot, Piercing) and sword enchantments (Sharpness, Looting, Fire Aspect) can end up on the same weapon. Custom golden glint — when enchanted, the weapon glows gold instead of vanilla purple. -
Anvil Enchanting / Repair Combining a Blade Crossbow with an Enchanted Book, or with another Blade Crossbow, always costs a flat 3 XP levels — your level drops by exactly 3, regardless of what the vanilla cost would have been. With fewer than 3 levels the result cannot be taken out, so the operation is unavailable. Enchantments merge as usual, and two Blade Crossbows also combine durability.
