Description
BlacksmithCraft
Every weapon, tool and piece of armor is forged by your own hands.
Blacksmithcraft is a blacksmithing overhaul for Minecraft. It replaces vanilla crafting of metal gear with a full smithing progression: from knapped flint and native copper to alloys, blast furnaces and water- and steam-driven machinery.
> β οΈ This project is in active development. Expect bugs and balance changes between versions.
βοΈ Hand Forging
- Draw your own **blueprints** on the drafting table: free-form shapes for weapons, fixed templates for tools and armor.
- Heat metal in the forge and **hammer it on the anvil** in a minigame: stretch, flatten, cut and bend the piece to match the blueprint.
- Watch the temperature: work it too cold and it cracks, overheat it and it burns.
- Your score sets the **quality**: Crude, Common, Fine, Master or Legendary.
- The shape you forge **is** the item's texture.
π₯ Smelting & Alloys
- Pit furnaces, clay crucibles, molds and molten metal measured in mB.
- Mix metals by percentage to make **bronze, electrum, orichalcum** and more. Get the ratio wrong and you get impure metal.
- Co-smelt ores with flux, deal with slag and purity, and beware of **arsenical fumes**.
- Forge-weld different metals into pattern steel.
βοΈ Combat & Equipment
- Stats come from **metal × shape × quality**: damage, speed, reach, weight, edge and penetration.
- Three damage types: **slashing, piercing and blunt**.
- Edges dull with use: sharpen them on the grindstone.
- Quench in water, ice water or oil.
- Assemble grips from a core and a wrap.
- Chainmail, scale, lamellar, brigandine and plate armor, worn over a padded gambeson.
- Shields, bows, crossbows, javelins and early firearms.
π Gems & Settings
- Cut raw gems with templates and **set them into your gear** on the anvil.
- Each gem rolls a random bonus based on the item's quality.
π Water, Steam & Machines
- Water wheels, shafts, gearboxes and belts carry mechanical energy across your workshop.
- Boilers and steam engines power stronger machines: trip hammers, bellows, grinders, wire drawers, pumps and crushers.
- Machine tier depends on the metal it is built from.
π§ Player Progression
- Numeric health (100 base), with vanilla damage and healing scaled accordingly.
- Five skills: **Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, Vitality and Temper**, bought with experience.
- Heavier weapons demand more Strength and finer ones more Dexterity.
- Dying leaves a **leather satchel** with your belongings and costs you some skill points, but you get some back when you recover it.
- Mobs scale with player level and can spawn with randomly generated gear.
π Vanilla Changes
- The vanilla furnace no longer smelts metals, and vanilla metal tools must be forged.
- Diamond and netherite are replaced by this mod's own metals.
- The enchanting table is removed: gems are your enchantments.
- Leather must be tanned from raw hides.
π¦ Requirements
- Minecraft 26.1.2, Fabric Loader
- Fabric API
- GeckoLib
- Patchouli(for the in-game *Blacksmith's Manual*)
- *Optional:* Mod Menu, JEI, Chisels & Bits
