Biome Frontiers

New mushroom and crystal biomes with custom villages, glowing plants, regional wildlife and 16x building blocks.

Explore two new Overworld biomes with their own villages, wildlife and building materials. Wander beneath giant glowing mushrooms, follow warm lanterns across swamp boardwalks, or venture into crystal-lined ravines in the Violet Fracture.

THE LUMINOUS MIRE

A mushroom wetland filled with tall Mirewood trees, hanging vines, luminous plants and geothermal springs. Giant purple and green mushroom crowns rise above the water, with spacing that leaves room between them and preserves the surrounding forest.

Suitable shorelines can hold stilt villages with purple roofs, timber pilings, fenced boardwalks, fishing docks, farms and warm amber lanterns. Mire villagers live and work here, including the Mycologist, who trades mushrooms and Mire plants at a custom specimen table.

THE VIOLET FRACTURE

A rare, expansive region of dark shelves, obsidian spires, natural fissures and deep ravines. Violet and amber minerals bring light to the rock, while the biome has its own sky and fog colours, sparse vegetation and building palette.

Discover settlements adapted to the fractured terrain, with connected paths, bridges, village lighting, crops and workshops. Mineralogists and Lamplighters offer trades tied to the region's materials.

WILDLIFE

Violetback Spiders inhabit the Fracture surface at night and can drop crystal shards.

Rift Drifters are custom floating creatures that emerge from suitable open ravines. They stay near their home and defend themselves when attacked.

Rare Shardmane Wolves occur as bonded pairs. Tame both partners to gain their trust; pups stay connected to their family.

Duskveil Cats can appear in Fracture villages. The special wolves and cats use Minecraft's normal wolf and cat spawn eggs rather than separate custom eggs.

BUILD WITH WHAT YOU DISCOVER

Bring home Mirewood, purple mushroom roofing, Fracture stone, crystal materials, custom glass, lanterns and decorative plants. Building sets include stairs, slabs and fences, with survival recipes and drops for the relevant materials.

Block textures are built into the mod at 16x16 resolution. No separate resource pack or shader is required. The project icon is artwork; reflections and bloom are not features supplied by this mod.

FINDING THE NEW CONTENT

Both biomes generate in the ordinary Overworld. Villages need suitable terrain and do not appear in every biome region. Exploration distances vary by seed.

With commands enabled, use:
/locate biome luminousmire:luminous_mycelium_swamp
/locate biome luminousmire:violet_fracture
/locate structure luminousmire:mire_village
/locate structure luminousmire:fracture_village

INSTALLATION

Requires Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 and Forge 66.0.13. This file is for Forge; do not select Fabric or NeoForge for this download. Minecraft 26.3 requires Java 25.

Place the JAR in the instance's mods folder. For multiplayer, install the same version on the server and on each player's client. No additional mod dependency is required.

New biomes, villages and their initial residents appear in newly generated chunks. Existing explored areas are not rebuilt. If updating an earlier Luminous Mire build, replace its JAR: both use the same luminousmire mod ID and must not be installed together.

FEEDBACK

Found something that needs attention? Leave a comment with your mod version, Minecraft and Forge versions, seed, coordinates and steps to reproduce it. Screenshots help with generation and building issues.
