What's new

Rebuilt for Minecraft 26.3.

  • Cushions ride exactly on the deck instead of a tick ahead of it, and docking now carries everyone standing on the hull, the pilot included, through the snap to the block grid instead of leaving them stood in the boards.
  • The launch message names the controller's use button for a player on couch-controls.
  • A ship carrying torches or lanterns no longer plays a block breaking over and over while it sails. Its collision check was breaking the invisible light blocks that carry its light, every move, and the lighting put them straight back.
  • Speed builds on open water. A ship still reaches harbour speed (about 3.6 blocks a second) in a second or so, so channels and docks feel as they did, then keeps gathering speed while W is held, to about 9 blocks a second after some sixteen seconds of clear water. Letting go slows it back to harbour speed in a couple of seconds; reversing stays at harbour speed. A keel keeps a fast ship from sliding sideways, so a turn at speed carves instead of drifting.
  • Cushions dock back on the block they were placed on, whichever way the ship ends up facing. The ship's blocks turned about the helm's centre while its cushions, the people on its deck and the ship you see turned about the helm's corner, so a ship docked facing any way but the one it was christened in put its cushions a block off, often inside the hull. All of them now turn about the same point, and a ship sailing east or west is drawn where you can actually stand on it.
  • A ship no longer stops a block short of a jetty to its north or west, or scrapes a seabed a block below its keel: its collision was checked around the corner of each block rather than the block itself.
  • Docking settles the hull on its exact waterline, so a ship easing back to its height cannot stop a hair short and put itself down a block lower than its deck.
  • You can stand and walk on a ship while it sails. The deck under you was a set of invisible stand-ins sent a few ticks ahead of the ship you could see, and you were pushed along by the server a network round trip late, so a moving deck let you through its floor and walls and shook you even standing still. With Pandorical 1.3.10, your own client stands you on the deck it draws and carries you with it frame by frame, and the server leaves you to it. Players on an older Pandorical client get the old behaviour until they update.
  • A ship breaks its way through coral and loose rock. Coral fans, coral and sea pickles in its path are knocked aside like kelp, and a block of natural terrain (coral block, stone, dirt, sand, gravel, clay, sandstone, magma) held on by no more than two faces breaks when the hull hits it: a spur of reef, a lone rock on the seabed, the corner of a ledge. Anything more firmly set, and anything built rather than grown, still stops the ship.
