BetterGeo is a mod with more geology for Minecraft! We have increased the geological content and also made it appear more like reality by adding rock types, minerals, metals, gemstones and exciting areas of application for the new materials!
We have created new recipes including rock types and resources to make the areas of application relevant and interesting. E.g. there are possibilities to create new high tech products like jet packs and heart starters. Also, some of the products that were already present in Vanilla have been modified, e.g. different types of ovens. The geology and the areas of application present in BetterGeo are similar to reality but with some simplifications.
Terrafirmacraft does something very similar.
This mod uses lang files to rename redstone items, you can edit the files directly and repack it to a zip file then renaming to a jar, or use a resource pack to override it.
Can you make it toggleable in the cfg whether or not copper replaces redstone? I have another mod that adds copper already, and redstone always struck me more as a gemstone than a metal appearance-wise.
I really like this mod. To let you know coral reef mod and zawa ocean plants doesn't work with this mod. I also wish redstone was still called redstone and pyrotech compatibility would be great.
This mod is really, really good. Thanks for making it, fellow Swedish geologists! :)
However, I have a suggestion: could you guys change the way smeltery is working? Right now, the ash is generated and spreading to the block(s) around and above the smeltery, even if said smeltery is buried underground. This mechanics can be easily abused for griefing purposes, i.e. one can bury working smeltery near crop / animal farm and generated ash will poison livestock and/or destroy plants. Since ash generating radius is pretty big horizontaly (16 blocks?) and verticaly (at least 8 blocks? probably more), this is making an offending (buried) smeltery difficult to find. Maybe change it that it will work only if it have an unobstructed view to to the sky? Or that it require given amount of empty space (air) around it?

Hi! Thank you for the suggestion. We'll look into it and see if we can come up with a good solution.
This mod is absolutely amazing! Are we going to get a 1.17.1 or 1.18 version?
In reply to pikamochzomc:
Thanks :) a new release was made today (but still targeting 1.12)
It's a lot of work moving from 1.12 but I have already looked into 1.16 about a year ago and in about two weeks time I will have hours that I will spend on looking into porting the mod to 1.17 based on my previous 1.16 code). I would like to look at 1.18 already now when there are snapshots out but Forge doesn't have any 1.18-preview support :(

dirt is no compatible other mods, so cant plant other mod flower and trees
and dont compatible with Biomes O Plenty mod
(BOP mod also add some dirt, but it works well)

I was just about to publish an update to the mod when I saw your message.
I have done some bug checking and unfortunatly it looks like BOP in the 1.12 version is doing hardcoded checks against blocks instead of calling the canSustaintPlant-method. In later versions of BOP this seems to have been corrected. So unfortunatly we can't do anything about it :-(
Source of 1.12: BiomesOPlenty/BlockBOPFlower.java at BOP-1.12.x-7.0.x · Glitchfiend/BiomesOPlenty · GitHub
There is also a bug report for BOP done in 2017 about this issue: BOP plantables should be using canSustainPlant() · Issue #968 · Glitchfiend/BiomesOPlenty · GitHub

please make compatible with other mods...(flowers and biomes)
I really like this mod, I suggest that the entries about the minerals, rocks and else could be saved in a menu of the inventory or something like that. I would really love to see this mod getting an update, thanks for doing this really cool mod!
and add Gypsum phosphorous Nitrate Fluorite too....
please add other metal like lead and Uranium...
how do i get iron?
Okay so this mod is the culprit of what issue im having. So at the very bottom on bedrock, it puts one layer of fire or lava blocks what ever it might be, so if you got Better Bed Rock mod making it flat, you can not build a base on it because of this mod putting the type of lava rock on the bedrock layer or what not. also interferes with the vertically stacked dimension mod.. 1.12.2 remove the fire rocks that you got at the bottom level and it'll be a good mod.
In reply to chrismp5:
You are right. It looks like we do that. This is because this mod tries to make Minecraft more geological correct and the bottom layer of the world would have magma. Sorry if this causes problems with another mod.
In reply to chrismp5:
You can actually disable this in the mod settings. There is an option there called magma. If you disable that no magma will be generated at the bedrock layer.

Enjoying the mod; it's really cool. Would like to see an issues tab so people can leave feedback for your mod, both issues and suggestions.
I do have a suggestion for an addition to the config, which is breaking up the disabling of high tech items individually instead of lumping them altogether. Currently you have the Jetpack, Defibrillator, Monster scanner, Lithium battery, Fire proximity suit and Battery charger, either all enabled or all disabled.
Thanks for creating this mod and the time and work that you put into it.
