- Leaves keep to their own wood. Vanilla asks only whether there is a log within six blocks, so a birch beam run through a wall holds a felled oak's crown up in the air, and clearing a tree farm leaves a shell of somebody else's leaves standing in it. A leaf now counts only wood of its own species: fell an oak and its leaves come down whatever stands nearby, and build with any log you like and nothing sticks to it. It is worked out from names rather than a table, so a mod shipping walnut_log and walnut_leaves is handled the day it is installed; the few that break the rule, azalea and bamboo, are named individually. A block whose name says nothing gets vanilla's own answer, because being wrong the other way deletes somebody's canopy.
- Azalea and flowering azalea leaves have stairs too, so an azalea canopy no longer ends in a box.
- Huge mushrooms and huge fungi are finished the way trees are: the edge of a cap becomes stairs of the cap block, so a mushroom's rim and a fungus's wart no longer end in a flat box.
- Huge mushrooms and huge fungi go ancient too, at the same odds as a tree and only during worldgen: a red mushroom as a domed cap on a thick stem twice the height, a brown one as a plate the width of a house, a crimson or warped fungus as a stem a dozen blocks taller under a pagoda of wart lit through with shroomlight.
- Poplar grows ancient as a Lombardy column, several times taller than wide, instead of borrowing oak's spreading heads.
- An ancient spruce rolls evens between vanilla's mega spruce and its mega pine, a bare trunk with its crown at the top; before it was always the bushy one.
- Azalea leaf stairs are leaves and mine fastest with a hoe; mushroom cap stairs with an axe and wart cap stairs with a hoe, like the blocks they are cut from.
