# Better Than Bountiful 1.7.10.13 - Almost Spooky Enough

## New blocks and items
- **Lantern**: 8 iron nuggets around a torch. Hangs under blocks, fences and iron bars.
- **Bark** for all six woods: 4 logs in a 2x2 make 3.
- **Lectern**: holds a book. Turning a page sends a redstone pulse, and a comparator reads the page.
- **Canvas**: right-click a painting with dye and paint it with all 16 dyes. Lock and sign it when you're done. Only players can take it down.
- **Carved Melon**: carve a melon with shears and wear it like a pumpkin.
- **Scarecrow**: no hostile mobs spawn within 8 blocks, endermen take no blocks and farmland isn't trampled.
- **Straw Hat**: 5 wheat. Dye it like leather, wash it in a cauldron.
- **Minecart helmet**: wear a minecart. Arrows bounce off, but you can't sprint.
- **Boat with Chest** and **Boat with Furnace** (coal, charcoal or lava; it drives itself).

## World
- **Beta regions**: rare Beta 1.7.3 areas in new worlds, with Beta terrain, darker nights, caves and weather. Achievement: Back in Beta.
- **Bat colonies** live at cave entrances and fly out at dusk.
- **New weather**: fog, and rain in a desert becomes a sandstorm.
- Ride a horse through a Nether portal and stay in the saddle.
- Arrows stick where they hit, mobs included.
- Better Smart Giant loot: iron, name tags, XP bottles, enchanted books and gear, potions and golden apples.
- **New sky**: Aquila, Virgo, Draco and the Lambda Orionis Cluster. Sneak and aim at a star to see its name. The Blaze Star (T CrB) can flare up. Achievement: Celestial Cartographer IV.
- New achievement: How Did We Get Here? (every effect at once).
- Swamps have their small water pools again.

## Options, music and sound
- **New BTB options screen** in the pause menu, with search and tabs for Look, Older textures, Sound, Music, Screen & HUD, Voice chat and World.
- **Music player**: play any song, resource pack songs included. Choose normal gaps, shorter gaps or none, where each song crossfades into the next, timed to how it ends and begins.
- **Recipe Book** in the inventory, crafting table, furnace and brewing stand.
- **Older textures**: the old One Point Seven pack is built in. Beta's wool, iron, cocoa, water, fire, portal, chests, flat dropped items and dirt title screen can be switched on.
- Rain sounds like what it falls on: metal, glass, wood, leaves or water.
- Optional Beta sounds: oof, footsteps and mob sounds.
- New splash texts.

## Servers
- **Block history**: `/btb inspect`, `/btb lookup` and `/btb rollback` (with a preview and confirm). History is kept for 90 days.
- On dedicated servers, difficulty is set in server.properties.

## Fixes and tweaks
- Walls and fences connect to every fence gate, including the Nether brick one.
- Creepers no longer blow up item frames and paintings (can be turned off).
- A pumpkin on your head now really gives armour.
- The furnace minecart is faster: 6 m/s alone, 7.8 m/s with two.
- Firework trails cost a diamond nugget and have their own sound.
- Horse spawn eggs always give a horse.
- Chests under glass open again, and the cauldron dyes carpets too.
- No more x-ray when a block moves into your head.
- Door sounds play correctly in multiplayer.
- Hidden item frames, paintings and canvases are no longer drawn, so big galleries run faster.
