Similar to copper items, armor will also oxidize, but my advice is to avoid swimming in this armor without using honeycomb, otherwise you will lose the oxidation state much faster.
Copper items will randomly oxidize (transition to the next oxidation stage) for about 20-30-40 minutes for each state, and their stats will change depending on the oxidation level. However, if you want to preserve them, use a honeycomb in a crafting table.
