Your trusty companions will defend you from attackers, before you are attacked.

In the vanilla game, your trusty companions won't defend you until you have been attacked. With the Best Friend mod installed, your pets will hunt down any mobs that are actively targetting you before they even get to you.

The short video below shows the difference in behaviour, with and without the mod.
