# Berrito π — the throwable berry is now a Minecraft mob
**Berrito is a hand-converted VRM avatar brought into Minecraft with its exact
geometry intact** — every triangle of the original model, no blocky compromise —
and it behaves exactly like a vanilla wolf. Tame it with a bone and it becomes
your loyal little berry companion.
## What does it do?
Berrito isn't a reskin — it's a full custom mob:
- 𦴠**Tames with a bone** — sits on command, follows you around, begs when
you're holding food, and fights hostile mobs beside you (it's built on the
actual vanilla wolf AI)
- π³ **Spawns naturally** in forest-type biomes, meadows, and cherry groves —
in small packs of 1–3, at a slightly lower rate than wolves, so your forests
gain a berry, not a plague
- π₯ **Spawn egg** in the creative Spawn Eggs tab, plus `/summon berrito:berrito`
- πΌ **Breeds like a wolf** — raise a whole berry patch of them
## Why it looks exactly like the original
Animations were custom-made for this rig: idle breathing with ear twitches,
a bouncy walk, sitting, begging, swimming, an attack lunge — and a happy
tamed idle with a whipped-up tail wag.
## Requirements
| | |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | **1.21.1** |
| Mod loader | **NeoForge 21.1.x** |
| GeckoLib | **Required** (4.7+) |
| GeckoMesh | **Required** (1.1+) — renders the original triangle mesh |
All three mods go in `mods/` on **both client and server**.
## FAQ
**Can I add it to my existing world/server?**
Yes — it's fully additive. It won't change worldgen you've already explored;
wild Berritos appear as new chunks generate.
**Does it replace wolves?**
No — Berrito is its own species. Regular wolves are untouched.
