Beg:Water Pressure

This mod introduces a deadly water pressure mechanic that makes deep underwater exploration significantly more dangerous.

Water Pressure Mod

The Water Pressure Mod introduces a realistic and deadly deep-water challenge to Minecraft. Instead of simply being able to swim to the bottom of any ocean without consequence, this mod ensures that the deeper you go, the more dangerous it becomes.

By default, the mod calculates water pressure realistically: it measures the exact number of water blocks directly above your head until it hits a non-water block. This means that finding a dry air pocket under a rock structure will relieve the pressure, and conversely, a thin rock ceiling beneath a massive body of water will still block the pressure from above. This makes for a much more immersive experience than simply measuring your Y-coordinate.

The mod is highly configurable. You can adjust how often the pressure checks happen to manage server performance, tweak the starting depths and severity of every pressure zone, and even configure which armor pieces offer protection and how much. It also includes a fallback mode that measures depth based purely on the Y-level relative to sea level, and it is compatible with the "Rising Flood" mod to dynamically adjust based on rising water levels.

Pressure Zones Overview

Zone Starting Depth (Blocks) Status Effects Damage Taken (Every 2 seconds)
Zone 1 15 Slowness I, Weakness I None
Zone 2 25 Slowness I, Weakness I 1.0 half-heart (0.5 ♥)
Zone 3 35 Slowness II, Weakness II 3.0 half-hearts (1.5 ♥)
Zone 4 50 Slowness III, Weakness III 6.0 half-hearts (3.0 ♥)

Protection and Gear

To survive extreme depths, you must gear up. The mod allows you to configure specific armor pieces (like Create's Copper Diving gear or Overgeared armor) to reduce your "effective depth". For example, a Copper Diving Helmet might reduce your effective depth calculation by 10 blocks. These effects stack across multiple worn pieces. Furthermore, there is an optional "full set" bonus. If enabled, wearing a recognized protective item in all four armor slots completely negates the zone effects and damage, replacing them with a flat, manageable Slowness effect, regardless of how deep you dive.~~~~

💡 Recommended Companion Mod: For the best experience, playing alongside the Create Mod is highly recommended! Create adds diving equipment (like the Copper Diving Helmet and Backtank) that lets you breathe underwater, making it the perfect gear to pair with this mod's depth and pressure mechanics.
