BeforeTheFarLand is a massive continuation and a complete overhaul of the excellent mod Left Forgotten by JustMili, which served as the perfect base for this project. Huge thanks to its author for the original idea!

Have you ever wanted to visit the old versions of Minecraft without leaving the new ones?

This project is not just a new dimension mod. It is literally a separate game inside your modpack that completely brings back that classic Alpha atmosphere with all its mechanics, visuals, and quirks.

The mod does not affect the regular Overworld, but as soon as you enter the new dimension, the rules of the game change drastically.

What awaits you inside:

Original Alpha mechanics: Forget about hunger, the experience bar, and attack cooldowns. There is no sprinting here either. Food instantly restores health again, just like in the good old days.

Authentic visuals: The old blocky lighting and thick fog are back. Dropped items are once again flat 2D sprites that always face the player.

Custom generation and blocks: The world is generated using old algorithms with classic spawn rates, and yes — the Far Lands are here. The dimension consists of completely new blocks that act as analogues to vanilla ones. They have the same crafting recipes but old textures.

Alpha Nether: If you build a portal to the Nether inside this dimension using the local blocks, you won't end up in the familiar modern Nether, but in a completely new sub-dimension — the old Alpha Nether.

How to enter the dimension?

You need to descend to the lowest layers of the Overworld and find special, strange bedrock blocks. You must blow them up and then simply jump into the resulting void under the bedrock. Important: to return, you will have to pillar up in the exact same spot where you fell.
