Your heading. Your waypoints. Your style.
Bearing Loom adds a customizable compass ribbon to the top of your screen, helping you keep track of directions, saved locations, and your next destination without opening a map.
Keep it minimal, choose a themed design, or combine preset elements to create a compass that fits your modpack.
Find your way
- Smoothly scrolling compass ribbon with cardinal and intercardinal directions.
- Degree markings and an optional heading readout.
- Quick waypoints and a dedicated waypoint manager.
- Waypoint names and distances appear as you face their direction, with smooth fade transitions.
- Waypoints are stored separately for each world or server and dimension.
Make it yours
Choose from seven built-in themes:
Classic · Fantasy · Biopunk · Steampunk · Futurism · Cyberpunk · Mycelium
The theme builder lets you combine backgrounds, decorative frames, and pointers from different presets.
Customize:
- Compass width, scale, and screen position.
- Tick shape, length, and thickness.
- Direction colors and label placement.
- Background opacity and horizontal or vertical edge fading.
- Background corner shapes and rounding.
- Visible HUD elements.
Save your setup as a named custom preset and preview it before applying.
All theme artwork is drawn procedurally in code — no separate theme resource pack is required.
Waypoints at a glance
Manage saved locations through a compact tile grid.
- Add, rename, edit, hide, or delete waypoints.
- Choose from a symbol library or enter your own short symbol.
- Set waypoint colors with RGB sliders.
- Adjust tile size and the number of rows and columns.
Live previews
See your changes directly in the settings screens. Rotate the preview compass to check direction labels, waypoint placement, and your chosen design.
Optional player radar
Player radar is disabled by default.
When enabled, it can display nearby players on the compass using player skin heads or simple icons, with adjustable icon size, range, names, and distances.
Important: Many servers consider player radar a cheat or prohibit it under their rules. Use it only in private play with consenting friends and where server rules explicitly allow it. Enabling it requires acknowledging a warning after a five-second delay.
The mod author is not responsible for bans resulting from use of this feature.
The radar only uses player entity data already supplied to your client by the server. It does not bypass server tracking limits.
