Beans' Wandering Workshop
Tired of carrying a crafting table, a furnace and a chest everywhere? Build a Workshop Golem, strap your workstations onto its pack, and bring the whole workshop with you on your adventures.
Building your golem
Build it just like an iron golem, but out of Smooth Stone, and put a Carved Pumpkin on top last:
[P] P = Carved Pumpkin (place it last) [S][S][S] S = Smooth Stone [S]
The golem belongs to whoever builds it and starts following them right away.
A workshop on legs
Right-click your golem while holding a workstation to strap it onto its pack. Then right-click that block on its back with an empty hand to use it.
Every vanilla workstation is supported:
- Crafting Table
- Furnace, Blast Furnace and Smoker
- Chest and Barrel (27 slots each)
- Ender Chest (opens your own ender chest)
- Anvil
- Smithing Table
- Grindstone
- Stonecutter
- Loom
- Cartography Table
- Enchanting Table
- Brewing Stand
Up to 15 stations fit on one golem: they fill the pack platform, then the saddlebags on its sides, the rump, and finally a second tier stacked on top.
Furnaces, blast furnaces, smokers and brewing stands keep working while you travel. Load them up, walk away, and collect the results later.
The stations behave like the real blocks:
- Chest lids swing open while you use them
- Furnaces light up and smoke while they are smelting
- The enchanting table's book floats, opens and flips its pages
- The barrel opens and the brewing stand shows its bottles
Your loyal companion
- Follows you like a tamed wolf, and teleports to your side if it falls too far behind
- Right-click with an empty hand to switch between following you and waiting
- Sneak + right-click with an empty hand to make it lie down and stay put, and again to stand it back up
- Lies down while you work: when you open one of its stations it settles down and stays still until you are done
Tough, but not unbreakable
- 120 health, a little more than an iron golem
- Defends itself: it gets up and fights back against mobs that attack it or come after it, rearing up and slamming down on them. It never attacks players.
- Shows its damage: cracks spread across its stone as it gets hurt, just like an iron golem
- Repair it by right-clicking with stone: Smooth Stone heals 15 hearts, Stone Bricks 12.5 hearts, Stone 7.5 hearts
- If it is destroyed, it drops its workstations and everything stored inside them, so nothing is lost
