What's new

Beach Craft (Raft) 3.0.0 "Tides of the Deep" for Minecraft 26.3

The biggest Beach Craft update so far. The Endless Sea is no longer one empty ocean: it is a whole world of islands, reefs and deep trenches, full of creatures, ruins and wrecks. A story leads you from your first castaway chest all the way down to the bottom of the sea. Turn your raft into a real ship, put on a diving helmet and find out what happened to the people who came here before you.

World & biomes

  • The raft dimension is now an archipelago: open sea, sandy islands, shallow reefs, kelp forests, flat drowned shelves and dark trenches far below the waves.
  • 12 biomes, each with its own water colour, plants and creatures: Endless Sea, Kelp Forest, Coral Shallows, Glowing Lagoon, Drowned Shelf, Abyssal Trench, Wreck Graveyard, Frost Floes, Palm Isle, Jungle Isle, Mangrove Isle and Volcanic Isle.
  • Volcanic isles with black sand, ash, basalt cliffs and lava in their craters, frost floes with icebergs, and jungle and mangrove islands next to the classic palm islands.
  • New sea life to collect: Glow Kelp, Sea Anemones (one of them glows), Giant Clams that grow pearls, Starfish, Sea Urchins, Barnacles, Tube Worms and Bubble Vents.
  • New beach plants: Beach Grass, Sea Oats, Hibiscus, Bird of Paradise, Tropical Ferns and wild Pineapple Bushes. Seashells and sea glass lie on the sand.
  • New ground: Shell Sand, Black Sand, Volcanic Ash and Pumice.
  • Pineapples: pick them from wild bushes, or plant a Pineapple Crown on farmland or a Crop Plot.
  • Handy recipes: seashells make bone meal and Shell Sand, Black Sand smelts into tinted glass, Hibiscus and Bird of Paradise make dye, and a Bubble Vent (4 basalt around soul sand) sends up a bubble column where divers refill their air.

The story

  • You arrive as a castaway. On a fresh arrival platform a castaway's chest waits for you, with a note from the captain of a lost expedition, the Expedition Journal, a chart, a Paddle, a Plastic Hook and a little food.
  • Logbooks, letters, Research Terminals and crackling Expedition Radios tell what happened here. Every story place holds a chart to the next one: an old lighthouse, a village on stilts, a research station on the sea floor, a drowned city, a forge in a volcano, a temple on the reef ... and at the very end a sealed sanctum deep in the trench.
  • The Expedition Journal always shows your current goal and a hint. Lost your chart? Sneak and use the journal at sea to draw a new one (once every 5 minutes).
  • Messages in a Bottle with letters from survivors and Supply Barrels full of useful loot now drift past your raft.
  • Two new advancement tabs: Tides of the Deep for the story and Endless Sea Adventures for everything else (Set Sail, Deep Breath, Shark Bait, Whale Watcher, Ghost Ship, Saltjaw's Gold and more).
  • A side story about the pirate captain "Saltjaw" Brannigan and his hidden treasure.

Spoiler (skip this if you want to be surprised): the sanctum holds the Leviathan, a colossal sea serpent and the first boss of Beach Craft. Find the four Tide Sigils, forge the Tidewarden Key and wake it at its altar. It has 600 health, spits brine bolts, leaps across the arena and calls Tidelings to help. Beat it for the Heart of the Tide (a conduit-like block for swimmers), the Tidebreaker spear, Leviathan Scales and a trophy. You can call it again with the key and an Ancient Crystal, so your friends get their turn too.

Structures

  • 7 story places: the Old Lighthouse, the stilt village of Saltmere, Helix Research Station with its glass domes on the sea floor, Port Solace (a drowned city whose towers break the surface), the Ashen Forge in a volcano, the overgrown Coral Temple and the Abyssal Sanctum.
  • 12 kinds of side places: pirate galleon wrecks, a rusty cargo ship broken in two, fishing boat wrecks, sunken planes, small sunken ruins, giant rusted rigs on steel legs, iceberg outposts, castaway camps, beach shacks, abandoned rafts, buoy fields and Saltjaw's hidden Pirate Cove.
  • Chests with themed loot, logs and charts everywhere. Drowned corsairs, moray eels and ember crabs guard some of them.

Creatures

  • 12 new creatures. On the shores: Crab (red, blue and sand), Ember Crab, Seagull, Penguin, Sea Otter and the Drowned Corsair. In the sea: Hammerhead Shark, Whale, Manta Ray, Jellyfish (moon, crimson and glow), Anglerfish and Moray Eel.
  • Bruce the shark has a new model, texture and swim animation, and he now goes after your raft: he circles rafts that people stand on and bites through edge foundations. Reinforced Foundations are safe, and a good hit scares him away for a while.
  • Seagulls peck at your crops unless a Scarecrow stands nearby, and they steal food from the ground. Feed a Sea Otter a seashell and it brings you pearls. Penguins have chicks when you feed them cod, and crabs breed with kelp.
  • Jellyfish sting, moray eels lunge out of their holes and anglerfish lurk in the dark of the trench. Whales, mantas and otters are friends.
  • New drops: Crab Claws, Eel Fillets (both great cooked), Jelly Blobs, Glow Jelly, Angler Lures, Ember Shells, Gold Coins and the Cutlass, the corsairs' fast sword.

Sailing

  • Expedition Raft: a big 3x3 raft with four seats and 27 storage slots. It never sinks, never tips over and sharks cannot hurt it. Friends standing on the deck ride along.
  • Upgrades that show on the raft: Raft Sail (50% faster), Raft Engine (more than twice as fast, burns furnace fuel), Raft Anchor (stay where you are), Raft Cargo Crate (27 more slots) and Raft Lanterns. Pick the raft up and it keeps its upgrades.
  • Palm Boat and Driftwood Raft, each also with a chest.

Diving

  • Diving Helmet: see much farther under water. Oxygen Tank: 2 minutes of air. Titanium Oxygen Tank: 6 minutes, and it protects like an iron chestplate.
  • Wetsuit: mine three times faster under water, and jellyfish cannot sting you. Flippers: swim much faster. Wear all four pieces for Dolphin's Grace.
  • Helmet Lamp: craft the helmet with an Angler Lure to see in the dark deep sea.
  • Tanks refill at the surface, in bubble columns and in the new Air Compressor, which runs on FE or on a hand crank.
  • Harpoon Gun (8 damage under water, the harpoons can be picked up again) and Sea Scooter, which pulls you through the water.

Building & decoration

  • 84 building blocks: Weathered and Teak wood with doors and hatches, Sea Glass in three colours, Coral Stone, ancient Tidestone (Glowing Tidestone shines), cracked and mossy Concrete, Asphalt with lane lines, ship hull plates, corrugated metal, steel beams, catwalks, railings, portholes, bulkhead doors, rusty pipes and shipping containers.
  • Expedition tech: blinking Control Panels, humming Server Racks, Satellite Dishes and a working Wind Turbine (20 FE per tick).
  • 59 decorations: paper lanterns in nine colours, string lights, bunting, neon tubes, jelly lamps, tiki torches, braziers, floating buoys and a lighthouse lens. For pirates: a Ship Cannon that fires cannonballs, anchors, ship bells, Treasure Chests, Gold Coin Piles and a Jolly Roger. For the beach house: chairs and cushions you can sit on, deck chairs, beach umbrellas, tables, shelves, an aquarium and a Hammock that sets your respawn point.
  • 22 natural blocks from the new islands and reefs.
  • Six new creative tabs: Building, Decoration, Nature, Voyage, Creatures and Tides of the Deep.

The Seafarer's Almanac

  • A new in-game guide book, bound in oiled leather: 14 chapters on everything in Beach Craft, from the portal and raft survival to sailing, diving, the biomes, the side places and one page for every creature.
  • You get one the first time you reach the Endless Sea, and another in the castaway chest. Lost it? Craft a new one from a book and kelp or driftwood.
  • The chapter about the final fight starts with a spoiler warning. Once you have won the fight, it opens by itself.

Reworked 2.0 textures and fixes

  • New textures for the blocks and items of 2.0: driftwood and palm wood, leaves and thatch, raft foundations, sail canvas and rope, the Water Purifier, Simple Grill, Crop Plot, Scarecrow, Solar Panel, Battery, Quarry, Chunk Destroyer, both furnaces, titanium ore, blocks and armor, and many items.
  • Bruce the shark has a new model, texture and swim animation.
  • Sharks and other sea monsters no longer stop you from sleeping.

Notes

  • Needs Minecraft 26.3, Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer and Fabric API. Team Reborn Energy is included.
  • Existing worlds: chunks of the raft dimension that you have already explored keep their old terrain. New chunks are made with the new world, so sail a bit farther out (or start a new world) to see the islands, reefs and story places. Where old and new chunks meet, the terrain has a hard edge.
  • The castaway's chest only appears on new arrival platforms. Already have a platform? Craft an Expedition Journal (book, compass and paper) and sneak-use it at sea for a chart to the first story place. Your Seafarer's Almanac arrives the next time you enter the Endless Sea.
  • The raft dimension now has light like the overworld: the sun still never sets, but deep water, caves and rooms are dark. Bring lights, or a Helmet Lamp.
  • Game rule raft:shark_bites: /gamerule raft:shark_bites false stops sharks from biting rafts. They still circle and still hunt swimmers.
