Backrooms Expanded

Expands the idea of the backrooms, with the main sources coming from the wiki fandom

Backrooms Expanded

This mod, developed entirely by one person, is meant to fully immerse the player into the Backrooms. Rather than being a couple levels, a few overpowered entities, and calling it a day. This mod is meant to expand the idea of the Backrooms past what most Backrooms mods usually do. The main source of inspiration comes directly from the Backrooms Wiki Fandom. Which is a fan made Wiki, leading to a wide variety of quality per level in its description.

Mod includes right now:

Level 0 (And Manila room) Which also incorporates Non-Euclidean geometry and movement. The most known level of the Backrooms, containing Yellow Wallpaper, Moist Carpet, and loud Florescent Lights. The way to get into Level 0 is by No-Clipping. There are a variety of ways to exit this level. Entering the Manila room, finding a White Doorframe, or finding a Staircase.

No-Clipping requires distance and Unstableness. By spamming 'X' by default (Which can be re-binded to left-mouse or other inputs), the player can increase their Unstableness. By 15k blocks out, the player needs roughly 3,000 Unstableness, which requires roughly 3,000+ 'X' presses and 5 minutes of waiting. The amount of Unstableness you need gets exponentially less the further you are from (0, 0). Then based off of your y-level, that can increase or decrease your chances of entering lower levels of the Backrooms on No-Clip. The different levels you can enter when No-Clipping from The Overworld, are: Level 0, Level 1, or Level 2. When at y-level 70 your chances of getting to Level 0 is roughly 80%, while your chances of getting to Level 2 is 0.2% chance. However, at y-level -64, your chances of entering Level 2 is 2%. However, No-Clipping once in the Backrooms only does stuff under certain conditions.

The Manila room is a sub-section of Level 0. It's still a part of Level 0, but it's not the maze section (It is a singular room with Manila wallpaper). You can enter the Manila room by either waiting around in Level 0, or by No-Clipping in Level 0. Once in the Manila room, the player must wait an undistinguishable amount of time. This time can range from a couple minutes to 50+ minutes. After that amount of time has passed, the player can be transported to either Level 1, or Level 2. However, getting transported to Level 2 is twice as rare as the chance to enter Level 1.

Level 0.02 is a Sub-Level of Level 0. It can be entered by locating a White Doorframe in Level 0. It is just like Level 0, but without walls. Additionally, it slowly deteriorates as you go further from (0, 0). By 60k blocks out, the level is completely deteriorated to the point that the floor is removed completely, and only bridging can be used to go further.

Level 1 is the next Main Level of the Backrooms. It can be entered by No-Clipping from The Overworld, chance after waiting in the Manila room, or by finding a rare Staircase in Level 0. It is a parking garage with maintenance hallways on each side, which can grant the player access to other parts of the level, or an exit to Level 2Level 1 has roughly 11 floors, all connected by ramps to each floor. On the top-most floor, there are emergency exits and emergency elevators. On entering either one, the player has a 80% chance to be transported to Level 52, and a 20% chance to enter Level 2. This is the first level that the player can run into Wanderers or Entities. The player can trade with Wanderers, or have them follow you. Most Entities in Level 1 only spawn in dark areas of the level. However, most of the time, it is bright. This is where Blackouts come in. At any given moment 80% of the level can experience a Blackout. Blackouts can last from any range from a couple minutes to a couple hours; however, they usually only last about 20 minutes. On the other hand, in the Luxury Lots (which can be found on the lowest floor and finding a door with a staircase down), Blackouts are shorter. Additionally, the list of entities that can be found in Level 1 are: ClumpsDeathmoths(Male and Female (Which can breed)), DullersWretchesPaintingsFalse Almond Water Puddles, and FacelingsClumps are easier to find due to them hiding in the pipes in the Luxury Lots. The player can find crates that contain Almond Water, Flashlights, and more. The player can find Tool boxes that contain Machine parts, Batteries, and more. The player can also contract Tetanus from sharp metal found in the level. Then the player when in dark areas can contract the Mandela Virus. Other diseases can be contracted under certain conditions.

level Φ is the level between Level 1 and Level 2. This level is entirely made of gold. It contains gold variants of items in golden crates, and you slowly turn into gold within the level, but Almond Water can stop this up to 2 Minecraft weeks until you leave the level. Once you leave the level, you slowly turn back to normal. The player can enter this level by either finding a Golden Box in Level 1 and walking into it, or a Golden Door in Level 2. To exit, the player must No-Clip. On successful No-Clipping, the player has a 50/50 to teleport to either Level 1 or Level 2.

Level 2 is the second Main Level of the Backrooms. It is an expansive level that contains 7 distinct biomes. From tight tunnels, to open halls. Along with a selection of the Entities found in Level 1, this level also introduces new entities, the SmilersPredatory Windows, and Wanderer Skin StealersSmilers use ACI—advanced computer intelligence—(Different from AI known today (not as 'sentient')) to follow the player. If the player is in the dark, it attacks, otherwise it phases through blocks like a ghost to follow you endlessly unless killed expertly with Liquid Pain or potentially Molotov Cocktails as they are weak to fire (Though they get very aggressive once on fire). It is not recommended to go into hand-to-hand combat with these creatures, as it will most definitely lead to instant death. As for Predatory Windows, they grab nearby targets to try and kill them, or shoot glass shards, but as long as the player is crouching or in groups greater than 4, then the Predatory Window does not attack. Finally, Wanderer Skin Stealers will follow the player once they see them, and then they will follow them for 5 minutes before transforming into their "true" form. Once Wanderer Skin Stealers transform, they're very weak temporarily, allowing the player to kill them with ease as long as they do it fast enough. In Level 2 the level gets more and more complex throughout all biomes up to 7 times and as far as 3M blocks+ out. Entities additionally also only spawn until roughly 1.5M blocks out, as the further parts of the level are too complex for them to exist (Lore-wise, it's 'too hot and humid').

Level 10 is one of the Main Levels of the Backrooms. It is an infinite space of Wheat and Barely fields. There are Barns that contain planks and screws. There are also lakes that can spawn, which in later updates will lead to water levels like Level 37. If the player digs lower than 1 block, then worms will fill the hole, which damage them if they enter.

Level 27 is currently only accessible from breaking though the floor of Level 0, and currently has no exits. The player cannot sprint for too long as the air is full of dust, causing the player to cough (In future updates, this level will lead to Level 28 once added).

Level 37, which can currently be only accessed from rare large pools in Level 0.02, is also known as "The Pool Rooms." Currently has no exits.

Level 52 has entire collage campuses from a classroom building, to court building, and more. Each campus spawns every 500 block interval, and aren't easy to find. This level can be only accessed from Level 1 currently, and leads to Level Fun.

Level Fun is an Anomalous Level it has 3 sections. Level FunThe Playrooms, and The PartyroomsLevel Fun also introduces SFV or Sanguine Festivus Virus. Which should be mainly known as a zombie virus. For the most of Level Fun, there is no SFV. However, in The Partyrooms, the player is most likely to contract it. Additionally, The Partyrooms introduce the Partygoer. Mindless, blind zombies that hold the disease. Additionally, the player can run into all of the 3 other stages of SFV in The Partyrooms. However, due to current progress, Level Fun once reaching The Partyrooms exit, leads back to Level 0. However, future updates will continue the list of levels past The Partyrooms.

The mod also includes custom music for all dimensions (Levels and everything in-between), just make sure you are in survival because Minecraft is dumb.

Most diseases can be cured by Almond Water in the first hour of contracting them.

If you want to check out the levels without having to No-Clip, use "/execute in [level] run tp 0 100 0"

Ex: "/execute in backrooms_expanded:level_0 run tp 0 100 0"

P.s. It is recommended to not play with sound physics remastered due to the mass amount of noise blocks like fluorescent lights, this combo makes the game have constant frame drops. Though in newer updates (0.28.0+) the sounds produced by said lights are handled differently, so it may be possible now without getting frame drops.

Here's a speedrun of me doing the loop of Level 0 through The Partyrooms and back in 2 hours!:

Future update plans:

0.39.0 will have Level 28

0.40.0 will have Level 90

Somewhere down the line Wanderer camps

Then once Level 3 is done getting a rewrite in the wiki, I will make that

Then after Level 3, Level 4, then 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 29, 25, 999, 27.3, The After Party, 14, The Hive (or whatever it's called). Then more after (These are just plans, but plans can change)

Disclaimer, for Barely Bread in version 0.38.0 IS NOT MEANT TO GIVE YOU 39x saturation
