Coal Tools are have 1253 durability (after diamonds are compressed carbon) and fairly good speed but have a low enchantability.
Coal Armour is also highly durable and fills 2,5,4,2 (total = 13) armour points.

Coal Ingots can be obtained via putting a coal block in a furnace. Coal blocks burn in a furnace for 800 seconds (enough to burn 10 items).
