True peer-to-peer multiplayer for Minecraft. No account, no central server, no relay.
Azorea opens your singleplayer world to a friend across the internet and connects the two machines directly. Your chunks travel straight to your friend's game without a dedicated server either of you has to trust, rent or sign into. Play the same save you already use, with the same person you already know!
Why you'd use it
Most ways to play Minecraft with a friend put a server in the middle. Your game goes out to a machine someone else runs — a paid host, or a service that wants an account — and from there to your friend. That server costs money, sees your traffic, adds a hop of latency, and can disappear the day its operator decides to close it.
Azorea takes the other road. It connects the two machines directly, and keeps as little as possible between them:
- No account. Identity is generated from your disk, not a login.
- No relay in the middle. Your traffic goes from you to your friend and nowhere else.
- No dedicated server. Nothing of ours to go down, change hands, or start charging.
- Your world stays yours. You host the save you already play — nothing is uploaded.
- Plug and play. The mod handles as much as it can; when configuration is needed, it gives you a proper guide.
- Works with non-premium accounts too. A world can run in a mode where Azorea proves identity itself, so a friend without a working Minecraft login can still join.
What it does
- Hosts your existing world over the internet.
- Finds the network path on its own: a port-forward you already have, then UPnP, NAT-PMP, PCP, and finally public IPv6.
- Punches a direct connection when no port is open, using TCP hole punching — no relay.
- Signs your invitations, so the string you send can't be quietly redirected.
- Discovers games on your LAN with nothing to configure.
- Controls who gets in, per world: premium (checked against Mojang) or no-premium (checked by Azorea).
- No telemetry, no accounts, no third-party cryptography.
How to play
- Open a world and press B — or click the Host icon in the pause menu or title screen.
- Host Game → set it up → Start → Copy Invite.
- Send the invite to your friend. They press B, choose Join by Invite, paste, and connect.
Network limits
For two remote machines to meet directly, one has to be reachable. Azorea tries, in order: a port-forward you already have → UPnP → NAT-PMP/PCP → public IPv6. If none answer (carrier-grade NAT without IPv6), Azorea will not invent a route. There is no built-in relay yet, so the last option is a manual port-forward or a third-party relay.
