Evil has awakened in the land of Minecraft!

New monsters roam the land and corruption spreads!

But all hope is not lost.

The forces are evil are strong, but what if we could harness the power of the corruption for ourselves?

With this new power, create new tools and weapons to fight the encroaching darkness.

Note that this mod is newly created and a work-in-progress, more monsters/tools/blocks to come in time.

How do I get started?

You will want to be on the lookout for the new Cherub passive mob. Give it a flower to get Purifying Essence.

After you have this essence, find Corrupted Ore (as of now, just Corrupted Iron Ore, but more to come) and use the Purifying Essence on the ore.

This gives the Mote of Corruption.

The mote can be used to craft the new corrupted items (e.g., Corrupted Chest, Corrupted Piston, etc).

This also can be used to craft a Seed of Corruption.

Plant the seed in farmland and then use Purifying Essence on the corrupted blocks it spawns. This gives additional Motes of Corruption.

Glyph: Blocksense

A magical glyph that can be used to find ores. Place an ore in your off-hand and then activate the glyph to search for that ore. For example, place raw iron in your shield slot and then use Glyph: Blocksense. For the next 10 minutes, if you come near iron ore it will alert you. The more rapid/intense the alerts, the closer you are to the iron ore. Also, while designed for locating ores, it can actually be used to locate any block at all.

Slipstring and Corrupted Hopper

Added Slipstring and Corrupted Hopper Blocks.

Slipstring

Acts like a pipe from other mods.

Items that are put inside (usually via a hopper) will flow forward.

If the slipstring flows into a chest, it will deposit the item into the chest.

The rule for flow is, the items will prefer to flow in the same direction they are currently flowing.

Corrupted Hopper

Same functionality as the normal Hopper but with an added filter.

The "search filter" from the Corrupted Chest is now also available here.

The behavior is that, without any filter, the corrupted hopper will accept all items and act exactly the same as the normal Minecraft hopper.

However:

If the filter text is set, the hopper will only suck in items that match the filter (e.g., set the text to "#log" to only take in logs).

Note that items can still be manually put into the hopper, or deposited via other pipes/hoppers.

In the above screenshot, the corrupted hopper is setup for "#log" and will extract logs from the slipstring but leave all other items.

Update 1.04

New Item: Spiked Shield

The spiked shield is an improved version of the regular shield. You can block as usual with this shield, but it has an added bonus:

While you are blocking with the shield, press left click to execute a shield bash.

The shield bash will stun your target for 1 second.

Great against creepers that are about to explode!

Secret bonus technique: use Shield Bash while hanging from a grappling hook for a huge boost!

New Monsters/Creatures

Stalker

Crawls along the ceiling and tries to drop down on top of an unsuspecting player.

Drops the Ultrasharp Claw which can be combined with your boots to create Spiked Climbing Boots: automatically climb single blocks without having to jump. Or, jump and clear 2-block high barriers.

Inferal Spirit/Water Spirit/Earth Spirit/Air Spirit

Fire/Water/Earth/Air Elemental.

Drops essence of fire/water/etc which can fuel an elemental forge, or the heart of fire/etc which can be used for crafting.

Combine all 4 hearts to make a Blade of the Elements

Oak Ent

It looks just like a normal tree until you happen to attack it. If you do, it gets angry and attacks back.

Takes extra damage from axes and fire, but reduced damage from other sources.

Manticore

A rare but deadly monster that stalks the underground. With the body of a lion and tail of a scorpion, it can quickly reach its target and poison it with its deadly tail.

Fairy

A rare but friendly floating creature. Capture it in a glass bottle and it will come out to save you if you die!

Sandworm

These large beasts burrow into the desert waiting for unsuspecting prey to pass over. If you come to close they may attack!

Mummy

Simple minded creature that lurks in the darkness.

Drops scraps that can be combined to make a bandage. The bandage heals you slightly but cannot be used during combat.

Ender Demon

The fully evolved form of the Enderman. Unlike the Enderman, he will not become aggressive when you look at him. Instead, he will attack if you come near.

Able to drop the Ender Hourglass very rarely. A one-time use item which temporary slows time during combat.

Imp

Very simple and easy to defeat, but roams in packs. Don't get overwhelmed!

Drops colored ash that can be used to create dyes.

Cherub

Friendly tiny flying angel.

Give it a flower to get Purifying Essence.

New Items

Corrupted Chest

Chest with infinite storage.

Items can stack to unlimited size. The chest can be sorted by different views, by default it sorts by Most Recently Modified view.

The chest can be searched via text.

The search supports searching by name or tooltip (e.g., typing "chest" to find all chests).

Or you can search by item tag, e.g., #raw_materials

Or by mod name @awakened_evil

The chest also supports boolean logic of these forms:

AND operation

Items will only be shown if they match the criteria on the left and right side

e.g., #planks&jungle

OR operation

Items will be shown if they match any of the given critiera

e.g, cake,carrot,potato

Bamboo Spike Trap

A trap that lies on the ground waiting for a victim. When stepped on, spikes shoot up dealing damage.

If a mob dies from this damage, it will drop experience.

Seed of Corruption

When planted in a farmland, it will periodically generated red corrupted blocks nearby.

These blocks have 2 uses:

1. Purify manually using Purifying Essence to get additional Motes of Corruption

2. Purify automatically using a Purifier

Purifier

Automatically purifies corrupted blocks (as created by the Corruption Seedling).

If it purified a nearby block, it will deposit the corruption into a nearby Vessel of Corruption if any exist within range.

Note that this generates corruption energy very slowly.

Vessel of Corruption

Energy tank that holds corruption.

Corruption can be added in 2 ways:
1. Manually deposit corruption by using a Mote of Corruption on this block.

2. Automatically deposit corruption slowly using a Purifier

Unholy Altar

Used for crafting special recipes that usually involve magic.

The altar has 5 interactive spots: 4 side platforms and 1 central platform.

The altar can be used to craft new items if you place the correct ingredients on the platforms.

This can be used to create magical Glyphs or as an alternative pathway to get certain enchanted books.

Each recipe requires 1 specific item to be placed on the central platform and up to 4 (maybe less) items to place on the side platforms in any order.

Elemental Forge

Requires corruption to operate. Corruption is automatically pulled from a nearby Vessel of Corruption if any exists.

The forge can be given any raw ore (e.g., Raw Gold) and elemental essence (e.g., Essence of Fire) and it will produce 2x the Ingots.

If the forge runs out of corruption or runs out of elemental essence, it will temporarily pause operation.

Glyph: Ascend

Inspired by Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

This magical glyph will place a marker on a ceiling up to 10 blocks above you.

If the marker is green, you can use the item to ascend upwards and traverse through solid blocks until you reach a surface.

If the marker is red, there is no safe place to exit the surface above.

Has limited charges.

Glyph: Blink

Teleports to the location you are currently looking at.

Has limited charges.

Glyph: Illuminate

Illuminates your surroundings for a set duration.

Note that the light is magical in nature: it will not prevent monsters from spawning.

Has limited charges.

Improvised Bandage

Hold to use.

After channeling for a few seconds it will heal you.

If you are attacked during this time you are interrupted. Cannot be used if you were recently attacked.

Corrupted Piston

Requires corruption to operate. This means there must be a nearby Vessel of Corruption with sufficient energy.

When powered by Redstone, it will consume corruption and start drilling in front of it.

The drill will destroy blocks or damage entities.

Ender Hourglass

Slows nearby monsters and projectiles for several seconds.

Grappling Hook

Use the item to launch a hook.

If the hook hits a block, you can swing from the block.

Note that the hook must land above to utilize gravity to swing.

If you are directly below the hook location, hold spacebar to climb the rope.

If you are directly below the hook location, you can also extend the rope by holding Control or Alt (up to a maximum length)

If you are on the ground, you are tethered to the hook by the rope. You can length the rope by holding Control or Alt.

If you are currently grappled and next to a wall, you can rappel up or down the wall. Use spacebar to climb upwards, or hold control (or alt) to climb downwards. Note that you must be facing the wall you want to rappel upwards or downwards from

If you get stuck somehow, try moving around (wasd) or facing a wall and rappeling. You can always break the tether with shift.

Press shift to disengage from the rope.

Blade of the Elements

Fight evil in style!

A glowing energy sword that can be used to slay monsters.

Kill all the elementals and collect all 4 elemental hearts to create this powerful weapon.

Spiked Climbing Boots

Climb up blocks automatically without having to jump. Or climb up 2-block heights by jumping.

The mod is still a work in progress, here are some things that are missing that will be added in time:

Need to create a config, currently it doesn't have one!
