Auras adds collectible Runes to Minecraft, based on the ancient Norse runes of the Elder Futhark. Runes replace the enchantment glint on tools, weapons, and armor with unique effects. Aura effects are procedural and use the item as a canvas, so unlike a simple animated texture, they look different on every item.

Each of the 24 runes has its own effect, and is available in 20 gem colors across the rainbow, including the ultra-rare Opal.
Finding runes is tough, and there are no shortcuts: every rune you find is a special treasure. You'll have to scour ancient cities for the colors of Wrath, hunt monsters for Victory, conquer trial chambers for Pressure, and fish across the world for Tide. Many more treasure hunts are scattered across the game.
Emblems change an Aura's speed and style. If you have two runes of the same type in different colors, you can apply both colors for a dual-color Fade!
Auras includes a Photosensitivity option that smooths out flicker and flashes, and a Purity Mode for a more strictly vanilla style. Also included is support for a variety of structure mods, 3D item mods and resource packs, animations mods, and Immersive Armors.

Many types of Runes are found as loot items in chests. Specific types of loot chests usually have their own color of Rune - for example, Bastion treasure rooms give Inferno Aurum and Inferno Citrine.
Enchanted books can also rarely be found with Auras applied.
Some mobs can even have Auras on their items!

Runes can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor piece, and transfer their Aura when applied. Applying a different Rune type replaces the current Aura. Runes are not consumed on use, but they *are* discharged. You'll need to hold them in your hand while collecting XP to recharge them.

You can apply a second Rune of the same type in a different color to get a Fade. Fades cause the Aura to show two colors at once, each in unique ways. The order of colors counts! Ruby/Amethyst and Amethyst/Ruby will always look different.
There are even a few secret fades with special effects!

Emblems are found as loot in chests can be applied to change an Aura's speed or density. Applying the same emblem again removes its modifier.
