Description
Arsenal Core
What the Arsenal mods share. This is a library mod: on its own it adds nothing to play. It is
here because Arsenal of Vehicles needs it from 0.2.0 on, on the player's game and on the
server. CurseForge installs it with Arsenal of Vehicles.

Rooms inside vehicles
A vehicle cannot carry real blocks. Blocks sit on the world's fixed grid, and a ship that moves and
turns would have to break and place every one of them every tick. So a room in a vehicle is a real
place of its own, in a world kept for rooms, and the vehicle keeps the way into it. Go down its
ladder or through its door and you are in the room. Climb back out and you are aboard again,
wherever the vehicle has got to. Between the two is a moment of black, not the game's loading
screen.
In Arsenal of Vehicles:
- the Tiamat, the aircraft carrier, has a crew deck 24 blocks across, 5 high and 60 long,
through a watertight door below decks;
- the Leviathan, the battleship, has one 16 across, 4 high and 40 long, the same way;
- the Kraken, the submarine, has a lower deck 7 across, 3 high and 20 long, down a hatch in the
floor between her bunks.
Anything works in a room that works anywhere, because it is a real place:
- redstone of every kind;
- chests, furnaces and crafting;
- farms under the room's lamps, and animals;
- other mods' blocks and machines.
What is built there goes on working while the vessel is under way or lying at her moorings, as
long as she is in a part of the world that is loaded. While anyone is down in her room she stays
loaded, so that she is still there to take them back aboard.
What a room is not
- Nobody sees out of a room, or into it from the vessel, and it does not rock with her.
- It has no sky, weather or ground: solar panels, rain collectors and quarries have nothing to
work with.
- Nothing in it reaches the world outside: a dispenser cannot fire out through the hull.
- Its walls, deck and overhead cannot be broken.
The rules
- One room to a vessel.
- She cannot be packed up into her item while her room has anything in it ("Empty her room
first").
- When she is destroyed, her room goes with her: whoever is in it is put out on the surface where
she was, and everything in it is lost.
- A few blocks would make a mess of a room and are refused: portals to other worlds, and the
respawn anchor, which blows up anywhere but the Nether. One placed in a room pops off again as
an item, with a red warning. Eating a chorus fruit in a room does not teleport you (it would put
you out through the walls).
Lighter textures on the graphics card
A vehicle's paint is one picture thousands of pixels across. Kept the way the game keeps a
texture, the Tiamat's alone takes 46 MB of the graphics card's memory. Arsenal Core keeps them
compressed on the card instead, in the formats every desktop graphics card reads: an eighth of the
memory (a quarter where the paint has see-through parts), drawn just as fast. A texture nothing has
been drawn with for ten minutes is let go of, and loaded again when it is next wanted.
Both can be turned off in `config/arsenal_core-client.toml`, to compare, or on a card that shows
them badly.
For servers and modpacks
- More refused blocks: add their ids to `rooms.forbiddenBlocks` in
`config/arsenal_core-common.toml`, or to the block tag `arsenal_core:not_in_rooms` in a datapack.
Whether some other mod's block misbehaves in a room cannot be known before it does; when one
does, add it to the list.
- Commands, for operators and for trying rooms without a vehicle:
`/arsenal_core room new [width height length]`, `/arsenal_core room enter <number>` and
`/arsenal_core room leave`.
- The rooms are kept in the dimension `arsenal_core:rooms`, each in chunks of its own. Back it
up with the rest of the world, and leave it out of any tool that deletes little-visited chunks:
the rooms would go with them.
Still to come
- The model renderer the Arsenal mods draw with, moved here so that they all share one, with
lighter models in the distance.
Requirements
- Minecraft - 1.21.1 - with - NeoForge - 21.1.252 or newer
- Installed on both the client and the server
Every model and texture in this mod is original work made for it.
