# Ares HUD 2.0 Changelog

This update rebuilds the HUD editor, dynamic display settings, and preset management — making layout tweaks more intuitive and giving every HUD freer control over how it shows up.

## Brand-new HUD editor

- Collapsible left and right sidebars: search and select HUDs on the left; adjust properties and layout on the right.
- Component properties are organized into Position / Display / Exclusive — select a HUD to see the settings it supports.
- Click, drag, and scroll-wheel zoom are supported, or enter coordinates and scale values for precise adjustments.
- With a HUD selected, WASD moves it by 1 GUI pixel at a time; hold Shift to move by 10 GUI pixels.
- Alt + left click cycles through overlapping HUDs; press H to collapse both panels; grid and drag snapping are available.
- Hidden HUDs appear as semi-transparent previews in the editor and can still be selected and adjusted.
- Title and subtitle examples now show editing tips: the title shows a short hint, the subtitle shows detailed instructions, rotating every 5 seconds and matching the current settings page.

## Per-HUD display modes

- Three modes — Always On / Hidden / Dynamic — with each HUD’s dynamic settings saved separately.
- Choose display conditions from supported data sources, including value change, increase, decrease, not full, low value, combat, and related actions.
- Separately adjust the change threshold and low-value threshold for each attribute.
- Independently configure auto-hide, hold time, animation duration, plus move, fade, combined animation, or no animation.
- Move animations support custom direction and distance, with animation preview and a one-click reset.
- New option: “Other HUDs to show when this HUD is triggered” — pick same row, same category, or all HUDs (these three scopes are mutually exclusive), or manually select specific targets.
- The central HUD keeps its overall layout while each slot can show or hide based on its own conditions.
- When slot contents change, the matching default display conditions update automatically, while user-edited conditions and other dynamic parameters are preserved.

## Freer preset management

- Added a “(Dynamic HUD)” version of each of the original 7 presets — 14 built-in presets in total.
- Dynamic presets are based on the default condition behavior from 1.7.5; the inventory and offhand are always shown by default.
- Each dynamic version sits directly under its matching original preset for easy browsing and switching.
- Long preset names wrap automatically so the full name stays readable.
- Save the current layout and HUD settings as a new custom preset, with naming, search, and delete support.
- Each preset is saved independently and can be shared or imported as a single JSON file; you can open the presets folder directly from in-game.
- Old configs migrate automatically, with a backup kept before related dynamic rules are migrated.

## More adjustable HUDs

- Supported vanilla and third-party HUDs are brought into the unified editor — adjust position, scale, display mode, and dynamic settings based on layer capabilities.
- Buffs and debuffs are split into separate components so they can be moved, scaled, and shown/hidden independently.
- The selected-item name can be adjusted on its own, without moving or hiding the XP HUD with it.
- Edit examples are provided for some vanilla HUDs and Ares components, so you can tweak layout even when the real content isn’t currently showing.

## Mod compatibility updates

- Added Peak Stamina compatibility. The central HUD can use a “Stamina: Peak Stamina” slot that shows current stamina, available cap, and bonus stamina.
- When Peak Stamina lowers the cap due to fatigue, hunger, poison, encumbrance, and similar conditions, the central stamina bar shortens proportionally, with the restricted portion kept as a dimmed underlayer; it returns to full length when the penalty ends.
- Added Goety compatibility. The central HUD can use a soul energy slot that automatically shows soul energy from a totem or a linked ark, with customizable totem capacity.
- Legendary Survival Overhaul’s fullscreen cold and heat effects are excluded from HUD edit selection to avoid mis-clicks; in-world environmental effects still display normally.

## Bug fixes

- Fixed save/reload looping on first init or config reset, which could cause resource load failures.
- Fixed the central HUD’s empty regions intercepting clicks, making the XP orb in the middle hard to select.
- Fixed display conditions, hold times, and hidden states interfering with each other in some combined layouts.
- Fixed the preset list jumping back to the top after selecting a preset; scroll position is now preserved when switching.
- Fixed Finale Preset 1’s health bar fill overflowing by one pixel and covering the border.
- Fixed missing top and bottom borders in Finale Preset 1 when the middle health bar was hidden.
- Fixed an issue on Minecraft 1.20.1 where, after the central HUD took over mana, Mana Unified and Iron’s Spells’n Spellbooks’ native mana bars were not correctly hidden — causing duplicate bars or numbers, including when the armor slot auto-switched to mana.

## Notes

- The main features in this update are available for Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge and 1.21.1 / NeoForge.
- How much of a third-party HUD you can edit depends on how it draws; dynamic display does not bypass that mod’s own visibility conditions.
- When adjusting temporary HUDs such as charge or casting, let them appear for real first, then open the editor.
